The 65 I built had 15" X 7" rims with the stock 4 1/2" back spacing.

Front fenders were re-arched to allow more caster & had rolled/wired edges. I do that mod to most of my "driver" builds & the way I do it can be found here ....

I can see how that would work on a fender but how do you attach the quarter to inner wheelhouse with no flange?

that would mean 2 1/2" of the wheel was protruding beyond the face of the hub. If you cut back the suspension 5/8" then you could use a wheel where only 1 7/8" protude without cutting the suspension.
Coker sells a 65 Mustang styled steel rim that is 14x5 and 3.75" BS which would leave only an 1 1/4" . 68 Mustangs came with 14" wheels so the 14x5" wheel should clear the 68 Mustang disc brakes and not stick out too far.

Just to repost on the front fenders for all those that could not understand my near sightedness .....

Fronts done .....

Before wiring, but arch reshaped ....

Marking out the change to the arch .....

The wired edge is as I posted on the REAR quarter panels ....... ;)

Answering the question as to how I joined the quarter arch to the outer rear wheel house.

I cut the flange off the outer wheel house & glue the quarter to the outer wheel house. Another way is NOT to wire them, but cut the flange off the outer wheel house & glue the quarter panel while folding the edge up into the wheel house (similar to a door skin) ......

Flange cut off & urethane primer applied .....

Image

Quarter panel cleco'd & clamped in place after urethane applied around arch & a couple of other areas ......

Image

Flange edge of quarter panel hammered up (like a door skin) onto the outer wheel house. The urethane is not only a glue, but also a sealer ....

Image

No edges for the tire to catch on (easy to wash too .... ) .....
