Spot on there Trav...

Jeff - Trav rebuilt my steering box to the correct factory standard - so now that the column, hub and wheel assembly is "correctly" installed it feels exactly how you described it should.

To add a little more to the steering column problem I described above, it was actually a reasonably serious problem the way it was set up that, although unlikely to occur, I could have grabbed the steering wheel at any time and simply pulled it backwards drawing the entire inner column and top shaft assembly out without undoing anything - Ooops!

All sorted now though.

Front end feel quite tight Mike? With my old shocks/springs and your new arms, tie rods etc it should be fairly direct I would expect assuming the alignment is reasonable.

Hey Steve,

I have an ensuite to reno... as well as the Harley WLA (~1948) project however there is still a lot of small things to do on this project to finish it off - as much as these can ever be finished off that is!

Front end feels REALLY good Trav. Once I get my mind made up on the "final" set of wheels I may need to chop a half turn out of the front springs as it is clearly sitting a tad high but no biggy right now.

The steering is very direct and the ride is nice and firm with no wishy washy waddling when you turn into and through corners.

Just remember Mike these cars have a 2:1 motion ratio so whatever you cut off the spring will be multiplied by 2 with respect to ride height from a side elevation. A 1/8 or 1/4 coil cut will result in a substantial change and you cant go backwards! good opportunity to put some roller perches in too at the same time.

Hey Neil, yeah it has been a long haul for me but far from complete. Good point on the avatar!
