Started to fit the steering components yesterday. Everything is new except for the control valve which is reconditioned. I'm still waiting on Dr.Gas to send me the camber kit (it's been about a month now), so the lower arms aren't permanently in place yet.
Got a 21st party this afternoon, so no more for this weekend.
Still waiting on the camber kit from Dr Gas. It's been over a month now
So I have been pottering about doing other things until I get the kit. I think I'm going to have to call during the week and chase them up again as they don't answer emails until you call and have a whinge.
Painted up and fitted the steering box. I've cut the shaft shorter because it will be connecting to the 68 collapsible shaft. So I need to get the column mounted so I can see how much more I need to cut off and organise the linkage. I also fitted the new hoses between the power steering control valve and the ram.
I started the rear brake lines. Need to get the slave cylinders now so I can finish them off.
And then today as I was staying at my parents place overnight, I took my caster bars with me and we put them in the lathe to machine them up to make them adjustable.
I now need to make up some sleeves to go between the thread and the rubbers, then get an extra two nuts for the other end for adjustment and they will be done.
Yeah he's got a mill and a lathe in there, so it comes in handy.
I can do basic machining, but I couldn't have done the screw cutting required for the thread on the bars. My uncle happened to come over and he did it.
Still waiting for my camber kit from Dr Gas.
This has been going on since 11/08/2010
So yesterday I decided to get the AOD out and give it a clean up.
After a few degreasing sessions and a few wax and grease remover sessions with my spray gun, I put 3 coats of KillRust gloss etch primer on it.
The box also seems to be missing the TV cable linkage, so I'll have to get one of those too.
And because I have more money than sense (and I don't have much money, so make of that what you will) I bought an ally oil pan for the box which will allow it to hold more fluid and hopefully help keep it a bit cooler.
