G'day GM G, that's really interesting to hear your independent experience. That's pretty sad, really. Join us for a feed downstairs before the meeting and feel free to sit with us upstairs. We're a rowdy bunch! Ha

Honestly speaking I felt like I didn't belong, I was new to the club, they asked for a small speech/intro about the car, etc which I gave and then basically everyone ignored me. I think 1 or 2 guys said hello after the meeting and 1 actually wanted to see the car which was downstairs....

Beyond that I have found that a lot of the people are very cliquey and at the few external events I attended they weren't interested, especially in a Mustang that was being Resto Modded. Also on their forum posts never get responded to, and here at least you get help or comments.

This is obviously my personal opinion, and comparisons from other car clubs I have been a member in. (Mainly newer vehicles).

Regards
GM G

GM G Thanks heaps for being so upfront. I apologise for having you feel that way. Clubs will always have cliques, but never an excuse for that sort of thing. I am a Resto Mod guy (don't tell BossKraft) But my car and the Fletch interview is on the BossKraft Website in the Cars for Sale section a bit of a giggle for Tele.

Come along to the AGM and make yourself known, I will probably be the Bald guy with all the knives hanging out of his back. Join the Family and we can get you properly introduced, even the cliquey groups are good folk when you get them to smile..

Cheers Lance..

The fact that you've been featured on fletch's show is reason enough not to vote for you, Lance, let alone that you're a resto mod guy! GM G, I've always loved concours vehicles, but somewhere in all of this Mustangness, I've started enjoying modified cars. God help me.

Hi JBB,

As posted on the 'Time for a Change' thread over the Road.

The Club has received a number of nominations for a good number of the positions on the committee. That is great to see such interest in the running of this fantastic club.

To answer some questions here, I can advise the following procedure will apply:

MOSA NSW wrote
Postal voting will be allowed - it always has been in the past and certainly any member who has been around for two years or more would know that has always been the case.

Nominations for committee roles will close on 13th August - 7 days prior to the AGM. That is in the Constitution as prepared by the Dept of Fair trading so we have no flexibility there.

There will be an email going out to members on the 13th August explaining how to vote. You have the option of doing so via written vote, email vote or in person at the AGM. The information will also be posted on the web site. Again, this has been the same procedure as has been followed in previous elections and has proven to work well.

The Club will always strive to ensure every member has the ability to vote and express their preference as to who they want to look after their interests.

The Club is here for the promotion of the Mustang marque as well as fostering good will amongst members and friends. Phil Preston
Treasurer
MOCA NSW

Certain parts of Phil's post not pertaining to the voting have been edited by me
Cheers Lance

Hey ND69,

Whilst Wive's, Partners and Girlfriends are recognised via your Club Profile, I do not believe they have voting rights.

The vote is one per member and therefore they would need to be a fully paid member.

Happy to have anyone answer this for ND69 whilst I research it.

Cheers Lance

This also seems to be a common theme in car clubs, but I think the vast majority of people are nice and sometimes you just have to be the one to make the move.
Thats one of the things I have never understood about these clubs. Everyone there shares at least one thing in common, so it should be easy to get along.

The common car isnt enough.
At any mustang gathering i attend, at least 1/3 of other owners wont look at Frankenstang beacause its not a V8, another 1/3 wont look at it because its a restomod not original with 20 foot paint and shitty chrome.
Luckily i dont give a rats arse, because together we have done over 90,000km's in the last 11 years, while many of those owners havent done 100kms.

The word "swims" upside-down is still "swims".

For the record we have received the following nominations from these gentlemen.

President - Lance Weiss nominated by Sean McDonagh and Ron Lovett

Vice President - Sean McDonagh nominated by Lance Weiss and Ron Lovett

National Delegate - Sean McDonagh nominated by Lance Weiss and Ron Lovett

License Captain - Ron Lovett nominated by Sean McDonagh and Lance Weiss

In reply!
Peter,

Thank you so much, I have been waiting for acknowledgement of the Receipt of my nomination since the 11th of July, it is so good to see it confirmed.

Just a pity I wasn't not told via e-mail, call or text prior to this. Again thanks for confirmation.

Stretching it a bit however seeing as though voting is not that secret a business could you post ALL the nominees for Committee positions, it would certainly give ALL the Members viewing this forum an insight into who is who.

Kind regards
Lance

I know, but it should and it's sad that it isn't. There is always a divide between concourse and resto mod, but it only ever seems to be one way. Resto-Modders appreciate the concourse cars even if they wouldn't do it that way themselves, but often the appreciation is not reciprocated.

The Small Ford Car Club HATED my Mk1 escort because it had a rotary in it. I loved the escorts of all varieties, but that view wasn't shared. That was my first experience with car club politics.

At a meeting I mentioned that my dad was a commissioner in scouts, so I could probably borrow marquees etc for a show that was coming up.
They thought that was a great idea and would love me to organise that, but one of the committee (the president I think it was) told me it would also be a great idea if my car got a flat tyre and couldn't make it to the show (and he wasn't joking).
I did not organise marquees, and my car didn't get a flat tyre. It also had a crowd of people around it while people walked past the other cars Laughing

Although that was the last meeting I went to, the last show I attended with the club, and I let my membership lapse.

In my opinion, this hasn't been posted for your benefit. It's been posted to try and look bad that you have all nominated each other.

Maybe I'm just a pessimist.

Hybrid,

I have no doubt that you are 100% correct, only difference is that from the very 1st post by Sean on MOCA it has been stated we were both running.

Again I have faith in the common man like myself, who have the ability to carve through the BS and see a smear campaign for what it is....Fear of the Unknown....Best thing once it is known there is always little to be fearful of.

What needs to be understood is that there is no intention to Undo years of great work, simply to fine tune it to the 21st Century and bring in some fresh ideas and ways to make things easy..
