After a second sealed beam unit fizzled at summernats I wonder if anyone has any suggestions/experience with swapping to the halogen upgrade (with removable globes).
Is it worth doing this mod?

Why has your globe blown?? have you checked that your alternator is not putting out more that 14.4volts?

Good point.
Most sealed beams though are crap quality so hardly surprising to have a failure.
Definitely get a set of semi-sealed beams & H4 globes. Installing relays is basically a must as will vastly improve headlight intensity & relieves the load on your switches (i.e. they'll last longer).

Thanks guys. Already have the relays. Will see where I can grab the Hellas from.

Nuts, the Swedish sled is back on the road after a snappy $200 for a 'fan belt' and two pulleys. Quieter than ever and with the winter Olympics, chicks dig it!

Don't buy the crystal vision H4 inserts from Ebay. I had a set in an XB and my cousin fitted them to his EH and low beam is crap!! Probably worse than the original lights. High beam was ok though. I replaced them with no name brand inserts from supacheap and they were much better- good beam spread and distance with 90/100 globes.
Cheers Shaun

Jacko, Saab no longer exists for a reason.
Afraid you're on my banned list until it's sold/scrapped/crashed for insurance pay out.
My personal preference is to drive it into a tree on a back country road at around 30kph (so you don't hurt yourself.........although you deserve a bit more pain for owning one in the 1st place) & say a roo jumped out in front of you.

Wow, all I said was SAAB and you guys come out of the blocks, depict me as a chick drumie and want me to commit autocide. So what if no one wanted to buy it out of receivership. We bought ours when it was still 'born from fighter jets' (having said that the only thing I could see linking the two is the roof release handle).

I can't wait to see what you say when Moe publishes his Mankini video. Moe, I think it suited you and Bengal tiger orange was a colour I was considering for the sidecar (until I realised most people hated it).

Next question, where to buy Hella lights. Can't seem to find them down here.
