Im wondering if anyone can confirm the wiring changes required to move the turn signals down to the reverse lights..

I was behind a car last night that had it done and I think I prefer it.. its much clearer than the brake light flashing..

My understanding though, is that it not as simple as moving the indicator circuit down.. there is additional changes required at the column..
Just want to know what that change is, as I cant seem to find it on the common brain.

I don't think it's that difficult, if you want to do it yourself Vince Shervington has a diagram that tells you what and where, if you want to take it somewhere to get it done, Nicks Auto's in Hamilton Hill do it...

I did it to mine, of the top of my head I did the following items:
1 - Splice into the indicator wires under the dash and wire to rear backup lights & change globes/lenses
2 - Drill new holes in the light buckets and wire in new globe fitting i.e one for park, one for stop. I just used a lower wattage globe for park.
3 - I just bought a very small LED light and screwed under the bumper near the license plate light for the new backup light. Rego inspectors had no issues with this.

Can't recall the stock harness splice points, but I ran a new 7 core line from under the dash to the rear

You do it with the brake light and reverse light switch, get hold of a cct and you will be able to see how it works. Basically under the dash you swap where the 2 switches join the harness, then in the boot you take what was the brake/ind wires and put them the rev lites as they are now rev/ind, and shift rev light wire up to the stop lights. You don't need run any extra wires in the boot. just move them as such.

Thanks guys, I think I've worked it out..

At the back, swap the brake light and reverse wires..
At the column.. swap the outputs from the reverse switch and brake light switch..

This will allow flash function to work, on single filament globe while in reverse. It can then be done on the stock or new 5 core line.

Thanks Shaun, answered while I was typing

Yep that's how you do it. Then fit amber lenses or bulbs. Mustang auto parts in Brisabne will have amber lenses

There was a slightly different way of converting the rear backup lamps to indicators, running clear lenses... On the moca forum, one chap managed to track down white and amber LED inserts to go in the backup lamp housing. Wired it up so white comes on in reverse and if you indicate, it was amber. Want me to dig out further info?

I used switch back globes like these on Blue. Work fine for my Nut wiring harness.

Birchy did you know you can get 67/8 tail lights lights with the amber indicator built in? I'm a fan but I know a lot of guys are purist and want to leave the tail lights red.

Thanks moe, I was considering switchbacks, but they require an additional circuit and an 1157 housing.

Yeah Rick, I'm not a fan of the mixed lenses.

Nuts, how bright is the white reverse section of the lamp?

I did the changeover about 2 years back to just indicators and certainly would like reverse lamps. ive already changed out the lamp socket base for modern amber bulbs so if it's worth it I'll change them again for the switchback socket.
