Well kinda yeah Jacko ,the shed was purpose built for the car ,



Been pissin down all day so got some more muzzy time,





Did pretty well stripping underneath ,





Just cant get this poofter nut off , might have to heat the nut with the oxy ,




Funny thing happened at the Auto parts store , asked the bloke for a nut splitter, he went out the back and came back with his missus , Snigger

I had a prick of a time getting one of those off my car as well as it's hard to get the angle right to get good purchase on the nut so you end up stripping the head. I found that if you undo the strut bar from the lower control arm at the other end and have someone hold the bar up horizontal with a set of stilsons you can then use a rattle gun with an extension on it to get it off. Even with the rattle gun turned up to full pressure it still took a minute of constant rattling but it eventually came loose. Ranting

Bolt the lower arm back in & attach the caster bar. Now it will not turn. Then use the rattle gun to remove the nut.

Some soaking with Wurth Rost Off won't hurt either. Can be a bit hard to get, if you aren't in the trade, not cheap, but damm good shoe!

Further to my semi jovial post,
that nut is a steel lock nut. Heating it will make it a lot easier to get off, but will render the nut useless.

Soak it with rost-off and be prepared to put some muscle into it.....the repro replacements are crap and do not have the bite they should have.

Well not much to report of late , still waiting for the Rost-off to get here , but in the mean time i just go out and stare at it wondering how it got all its scars and what the story was ??

where the leaf spring bolts through all bent up ??





both sides bent back severly at the caster bars ???





almost looks like it slid along with no wheels on the front , just got me scratchin my head as to how this stuff happens ?? Loopy

Probably someone trying to lever the rear springs out if the bush had collapsed.

When parking the car in a US supermarket etc, there are low kerbs & Yanks always drive in reverse out, so they hit them often. You could always tell the car I was driving over there as it was the one backed in. Safer to pull out that way & also easier to pull in as reversing a car can turn tighter.

I agree with Shaunp as a good oxy set & big tip will sort out the issues you have found, oh & a big hammer too ..... Wink2

Finaly , something i can belt the crap out of , so im a plumber and when i play with copper i usually get it to a nice cherry red before pulling a branch or bending big stuff , is it the same with this sort of steel , what i mean is , do you get it cherry or a dull red before you work it ??
