An engineer friend who has restored different cars over the years put me onto these:
painlessperformance.sh...xT8.mailto

A bit on the exxy side but for someone with little wiring experience, plug and play is attractive. Has anybody used them before?

Cheers

Jon

Not use any after market wiring system though have been interested in what is around.
I have been shocked by the price though.... Here is a less expensive option which in my mind is more realistic in pricing.

www.americanautowire.c...d-mustang/

Note: I cannot attest to the quality of either offering.

I will someday think of something clever to say.

+1 on the AAW.. i love it .. but all these wiring systems, as i understand, are not plug and play there will always be some form of intervention like crimping and terminating etc.. but as far as the harness goes its all there and already ready to go.

from memory it was about 680 or there abouts delivered. WELL worth it if you are doing a resto mod or if your wiring is shot or non existant. It suited my situation/application.

bare in mind it does not support an ammeter and uses the 1 wire alt setup..

gbx78 What else is needed for the American Autowire kit? I'm looking at one for my 1970 (so I did have to buy the most expensive model with one model specific wiring Very Happy

Also I'm told they fit up to the JME dash cluster quite easily. Is this the case or do I need to buy an additional harness?

The american autowire kit that I have has all the connectors in it for your cluster. It has both ends of the plugs to make your own if needed.

I'm in the process of re-wiring my '66 coupe with the painless kit following an underdash fire. I purchased this in Australia as it is a heavy kit and was not much dearer than the US sourced kit at $1,171.75, postage was free.

Yes it is exxy but quality seems fine, clear instructions and those wires that aren't labelled with a tag have their intended connection screen printed on the wires.

I had to get the turn signal/horn harness seperately and possibly the connection blocks for them.

Some form of wrap will make it look real neat.

Darryl
Just a major short from the horn circuit, melted wires everywhere under the dash.

Jiust have engine bay and horn/signal harness to fit, put the interior back in and she is back on the road.

Unfortunately I am back and forth to the Central Coast so the task is on hold at the moment Sad

No, locally produced sports wheel with adaptor hub.

Probably pushed horn contacts too deep.

Didn't do the light switch much good, new one coming

Not sure about the 70 model kit but from memory the 64-66 doesn't include the wiring from the wiper switch to motor.

I have installed Painless, American Autowire & Ron Francis looms. All with no issue.

as hybrid said ... all connectors need to be made up on the harness so you just make one up to suit the jme, as in wire it up to match the jme one..

im not sure about the 70 model one but the 67-68 came with a wiper harness and as pointed out the 65-66 doesnt.
