I have finally decided to ditch my garage creeper and eliminate all the road grit, rat shit and all the rest of the crap that falls into my face, mouth, ears and then rolls down to my nether regions, by investing in a suitable hoist.
Does anyone have any recommendations of brands for a two poster?
Needs to suit single phase 240v 15amp and preferably a locally manufactured product (for ease of replacement parts and instructions in english rather than chinglish Read the Manual )

Couple of my mates have purchased those chinese ones and they seem to work fine. Not like you are using it 10 times a day.

I'd love to, but my driveway slopes down real steep after about 2M.

If we decide to keep the house long term I could always dig the driveway out to give more height in the garage.

I got a DirectLift 3500kg two post hoist from Tuff Lift Hoists, it was under 3 grand. 240 volt, Its a ripper. Only things I dont like about it are the floor plate(the clear floor one would be better - easier to push non running cars in) and the lock release for both posts, to unlock it you have to walk around to both posts to pull the lock free- a single point release would be better. But overall its a ripper, its made in china and is very well made, was easy to put up.

I bought a 4 tonne 2 post hoist from radum $2,300.00 chinese made basically the same as Tim's by the sound of it, idiot proof as I was able to put it up myself, column's are fuckin heavy but, recomend you phone a friend to help stand em up........

Tim's is a ripper. Had my wife's car, my Mustang and J1's Mustang up on it recently. Jeez it beats the hell out of crawling under your car !

Mine is a Benwil made in Carson CA. A 9000lb lift (picks up a F350 Dually no worries). Bought it in 96, US$4000 installed (in the USA). Do not think that company is going any more.

I shipped it back from the US with all my other workshop stuff. It is a clear floor type & I would highly recommend you pay the extra to get the same.



For all those that do not have the clear floor, it is only the hydraulic lines (usually, cannot imagine lifting cables running there), if so they can be relocated above, making it a clear floor type. Worth a look if you remove the plate. Most 2 post lifts have a ram each side, so should be only the hydraulic lines & possibly the release cables. It is also easy to make the cable release on one side only.

Kerry the only 2 posters that would'nt have equalising cables running across the floor would be ones with screw jacks
