Just wanting some advice from the guys here who have had the vinyl roof replaced on cars.
On my car, the original vinyl roof had a metal strip riveted through the drip rails to hold the edges of the vinyl covering down.
My painter is trying to persuade me not to put the metal strip back on.
His argument is that it leaves the drip rails open to rusting where the rivets are (not that the car is ever going to see rain again).
He also tells me that aussie cars never had this metal strip riveted in.
Cant say Ive ever had a good look at a vinyl roof on an aussie car, so is he correct ?
Anyone been through this exercise ?

Yeah I'm not fiting them pretty sure Mert didn't put them back on his 68 Gt coupe either. Just glue them and wipe some sika up to the trim is my plan.

My plan is very much similar to Shaun.

I will someday think of something clever to say.

Looks like no metal strip is the go then.
