Shaun, I've got 3 complete OEM 4 pc sets for 68's to be done.... plus a few other items, dome light bezels, horn trim bases, etc. i can help fill an order for sure!

Would like to see the result. Curious why the process needs to be clear coated? For longevity or is it softer than the orignals?

John had some converted bezels done they came out very nice, as far as the metalizing goes. Its quite thin, so the 2k clear protects it and in theory stops it from going grey/yellow and thin like the originals do. But it is true vacuum metalizing which is how they were done when new. The converted ones were then painted with wrinkle paint to fix up the camera case, but you wouldn't need to do that on LHD ones, and mine will be deluxe
so I have to make some alloy type inserts for my car. Much cheaper than you were quoted to have them painted.

Sorry for the hihack Happy
but here are the vent frames I had rechromed.
They were really badly pitted and I had resigned my self to buying new ones.

Before

Took em to a local rechromer and while not 100% they are certainly good enough for my weekend cruiser. $160 for the pair, less than half the price of new ones.

After

Another massive noob WIN ! 😂

Did a bit more digging.
Have it on good authority that these guys in Silverwater, Sydney - swiftelectroplaters.co...index.html apparently have nailed the aluminium chroming.
They only have a small tank for the alloy process, so can't do any parts over 900mm long.

If it's not upside down, you're not trying hard enough!

Geezers here on the Gold Coast does some variant of the chrome paint (maybe Alsa).

Asked about doing a '68 instrument cluster bezel in their "low cost" alternative to plastic chrome..... $500. For one bezel. Asked about two, $1000, zero discount for multiple prodcuts. Would have been well over $1000 to do one set of dash trims, then would have to mask and detail...

Be interested on prices from any local vendors for this one.

Richard I have to get my RHD ones done, there is a guy who does them as original in Vacuum metalising, wasn't too expensive. If you want yours done, we can get a job lot, this guy is open to that. They need a coat of 2k clear after to protect them but they look sharp.

Stick me on that list Shaun. I think when Oz gets back from Honka's, hopefully my dash bezels will be in the country & i'll get them (with or without the car, your call) up to you ASAP for the cut & shut job. Still keen on that deluxe look.

Happy, a word of advice. I have purposely avoided a lot of chrome due to the maintenance of keeping it looking good. I just absolutely love these polished engines & bracketry/components that are getting around - just LOVE em, BUT........ya gotta be keen with the polishing rag & that I am not. Bead blasting components & satin black are my best friends - mega low maintenance under the hood for me. It comes down to the individual & how much you love rubbing stuff a lot while bending over........................... Shocked Poke
That should open the flood gates of one liners.
