I removed the plastic seat base frame and it dropped it all down 2" and now looks much better in the car. Another inch off the foam at the top of the rear base and I think it will be dropped down enough.

Looks like I'll be speaking with my engineer and making a simple frame to support the foam.

Sounds like a plan, something I was never any good at seeing through.

It's really only the shape of the frame where it goes over the tunnel that stops it dropping down. Thinking about it overnight, I might be best off just modifying that section of the stock frame.

Wanting to be one of the cool megasquirt kids, I put in a lowball eBay bid and won.

I picked up a new MS2 Extra on the surface mount 3.57 board so now need to start thinking about what I want it to do. Want to use a crank trigger for ignition but keep the dizzy in place, and also run Shadow Dash on a tablet in the centre console. Running thermo fans etc would be handy too.

Wondering if it's worth upgrading to a MS3 daughterboard and case now to future proof it.

I have a 3, but I think 2 is fine for what you need.

Something like a Mapdaddy was the other addition I was looking at. I live at the base of the foothills here in Radelaide so frequently head up and down the hills.

Yep I have that, though not sure it our hills are high enough to worry dont think you need a crank triger

Hopefully it's within spec.

How much extra clearance do you get in the bores with the 2618 alloy pistons?

I normally get them honed to 4 thou clearance, will get them to see what it has now. They grow a bit when they heat up, could go a bit higher to 5, they can be a bit rattly when cold if they have too much clearance, even so most forged pistons make a bit of noise when cold.

My timing was way more stable when I switched over. No more chain slop affecting the trigger slightly.
When you're doing the whole thing from scratch, it's a no-brainer I reckon, and then it's already in place should he want to change over to a wasted spark or semi-sequential injection setup later.
