Give it to a painter to paint it while you're overseas. Realistic shop time is around 4 years.

That is a very good thought Nuts.

If you do send it to a panel shop, just use the magic words "take your time, I want it done right" - guaranteed it'll be under a cover in the corner of the shop for 3.5 years and then they'll pull it out to finish it off after someone stubs/breaks their toe kicking it when they walk past it to get to the beer fridge one Friday arvo.

I'll keep that in mind. I'm not sure what to do yet, just looking at options.

What I do know is that I can't stop doing things to the car πŸ˜€

Latest project...seeing if I can get Brembo calipers on the front for cheap(well, relatively I guess), using parts of the UPC kit, ve redline parts, and random brake rotors.

Stay tuned

I think there's a Mustang Steve kit using current mustang brakes.

Yeah I think you can buy his 05-14 brake conversion kit, then you can mount 4 piston gt500 brembo brakes on them.

I already have the upc hubs/brackets, and this will be much cheaper if it works. The redline calipers are the same as the cadillac cts-v in the states, of which you can get a brand new kit landed to your door for $600ish aud inc taxes/shipping etc.
Then just add rotors/pads.

Of course you need the hubs/brackets from upc also, but like I said, I already have that.

Call Woody at Fataz Racing in Brisbane, ask if he has any of the old 6 piston Trans-am brakes in the cupboard.Theyare using calipers from TBS in Brisbane now. The old ones are willwood corvette calipers. Rotor is about what you have but you'll need some bent Falcon stub axles I think. Tell him I sent you.

Think they are these www.summitracing.com/i...l/corvette

So, fitted some new wheels yesterday and decided to drop the rear another 1"(or at least try to). Thank god I decided to, as I found something pretty funky.

Anyway, jacked the rear up, and noticed that the shock plastic covers were melted on one side. That's not right, as the exhaust hasn't moved at all, so jacked it right up and got under to have a look. Both shocks were literally resting on the exhaust. As in, they had come out of their upper mount completely, and were just free wheeling underneath scratching up the undercarriage and getting burnt ha ha. Anyone ever had this happen before?

Anyway, I had to search in the rear shock mounting holes with a magnet for the nuts, upper rubber isolater and the circle plates. Found them sitting in there. After an hour or so everything was back together.
So I noticed that the nuts I found weren't lock nuts, just regular nuts. I have a feeling when the shop installed these, they just nipped them on, and forget to actually tighten the things properly. Anyway, the rear feels a lot better now Smile

Thanks for the heads up. Just received my Bilstein shocks and in the included bag of hardware with instructions they only provide 1 nylock locking nut for the bottom mounting plate and only 1 normal nut for the top mounting hole for the shock as yours were installed. Got hold of some s/s M10 nuts to use as jam nuts so I don't have the same issue you did.
