Do all the 4R70w bits drop straight in without modification?

Much of the drivetrain can because the AODE/4R70W were mostly just improvements to the original AOD as time went on.
There are parts that can't easily be swapped. The pump won't go straight in. The output shaft can't be used unless you go to full manual valvebody because the AOD needs a governor on the output shaft for auto function that the 4R70W doesn't have provision for.

The casing can't be used because the 4R70W valvebody is different - using solenoids etc for shifting.

I thought you might be interested in this video. It's one of the guys of the corral.net mustang forums.
I thought it was pretty interesting. I know the atomisation is not the best, however he is using it pre-whipple supercharger, so not that big of a deal as opposed to our setups. I just found it interesting. A no pump meth kit would make me feel a bit more relaxed with the whole thing Thumbs Up

Interesting. It might work OK for a whipple or roots design, but I definitely wouldn't use it on a turbo or centrifugal charger unless you don't like your impeller.
Also, obviously it MUST go before the supercharger/turbo, otherwise the manifold pressure will equalise the pressure at the nozzle and nothing will come out.

Having said all that, there's still no guarantee of seeing meth, so you would still need safetys in place in my opinion, which kind of negates the positives - except for the cost. It is definitely nice and cheap.

Yeah, on a roots blown car it would be ideal. I know of a few hot air makers that could benefit from something like this. Justin's (hopefully not melty anymore) turbo would need a pump.

Oh by the way... the atomisation is not terrible - it's non-existent Laughing
So hopefully his whipple is able to mix it up nicely. Not sold on that setup at all. I'd be paying the extra hundred (US) bucks for a pump personally.

Edit: Actually you could run water only on this setup so you didn't have to adjust fueling. That would make it a bit safer.

I just like the idea because it's so simple. I think it would be fine for a roots style blower. We will see anyway, once he puts it on.

That pro-meth setup is really nice. Very neat. I wonder if there would be any benefits having it there instead of just before the throttle body.

Back on the lathe again today. I machined down the edge of the pressure plate in the direct clutch so that I could fit an extra friction and steel. There's now 7 of each.



You can see the machining just inside the circlip in the pic below. Obviously it lets the pressure plate sit higher and provide extra room.



Also cleaned and painted the casing that will house all the updated parts.



So in the next week or so I can start building it.
