Since im doing a full re-wire, though I would look at changing the rear light setup so it reflects Australin conventions i.e. park/stop combo and turn.

Has anyone done this?

Main stumbling block is the park/stop light setup. Do I have to drill a new hole into the stop light for another globe (park) or is there another way?

Then will change wiring to old park lights to make them into indicators...

You if you don't mind the reverse lights being rev + indicators it's just a wire swap under the dash and in the boot, Basically you wire swap the brake light switch and rev light switch up the front and than swap them over in the boot. So you stop and tail in the main lights and rev and indictaors in the bottom set

hmmmm - looks to easy.

Might get the drill out and try the hard way first. Then add a half wattage globe for park lights.....

If you want them in the top you will need to add a plate inside to block the light so the indicators dont light the reat up.

Do you need reverse lights for rego? In WA

Currently don't have as switch either

Yes you need reverse lights.
Salva has loads of 66 rear lenses with a orange indicator in them , then you need to drill a hole in the rear of the housings for the indicator globe holder and also put a divider in them.

Im doing mine with orange coloured and white LED replacement bayotet globes from the local auto parts and i cut up some clear lenses i got from BLKPNY or you can go full clear and use the red led aswell

Here is Frankenstangs setup.
The reversing lights are now indicators and the little reversing light under the number plate is enough to be legal in QLD for the last 9 years.

Where does the switch mount on a toploader? on the reverse rod?

From memory the switch actually mounts up to the shifter bracket assy at the back, the reverse linkage then actuates it.
Are you aware that in WA you can leave the tail/stop lights as they are?

No change is actually necessary in QLD (and I would assume all states) for pre 73 cars. That is not to say that it is not a good idea. Though for my 65 (and 67) no change to the rear is/has/or is planned to been made.

for me it was easy.
The general public cant drive for sh1t.
i want them to see my indicators, not think that funny looking yank car has bad brake lights flickering

and a lot of other things, but you can get away with a bit if your 70 model was actually built in 69.
