Quick picture of the breaker cam slot welded up and filed (on right obviously). At this stage has about 12 deg mechanical advance but will finesse it on the dyno next tues. This arrangement applies to the cast Petronix dizzys and stock autolites.

From internet source for future reference of others:
8L slot = 16 degrees centrifugal advance = .358"
9L slot = 18 degrees centrifugal advance = .384"
10L slot = 20 degrees centrifugal advance = .410"
11L slot = 22 degrees centrifugal advance = .436
12L slot = 24 degrees centrifugal advance = .462"
13L slot = 26 degrees centrifugal advance = .488"
14L slot = 28 degrees centrifugal advance = .514

Better late than never. Trav (aka grease monkey) with his keys before the first start.

It is nice to see a man very proud of his efforts before he starts the engine... Poke

Shiny carbi for sure.

I will someday think of something clever to say.

Looks great Trav, look after it though. You are only the caretaker after all. Laughing

Have I missed the video of this being fired up or is it still to come? Impatient

I did start the thread, so its only fair. Laughing
Besides, the man builds an extremely good motor, runs it in and tests it under relatively harsh conditions. Then sells it for almost the price of the parts and machining.
Absolute bargain IMO.

You make a very good point. Might need to Talk to Trav for my next engine.

I was hoping you might adopt his business model, he might get busy and I would like a second supplier of similar quality and similar price. Like

Please keep this quiet though, I don't want word getting around. Too many freeloaders out there. Laughing

Engine clocked up its first 100 kms running like a fine swiss watch. Good oil pressure, temps are good (although I am probably at the upper limit of my stock a/c radiator cooling capacity), nil fluid leaks, nil lower or valvetrain mechanical noises.

To be honest haven't got a video on my own phone yet but will post some up come Tuesday during the dyno tuning.

Nassi - you better get moving on your F truck if you are going to purchase this stroker off me in a couple years!

I feel there is a (commercial) floor in my current business plan so will re-visit my pricing model!

Trav

Most importantly the dyno operator configurable field two from bottom on left column reads only 0.1!

Hint: Open up the full res version
