What temp should I set my MSD to to control two fans?

Post by Edz66Vert »

I'm setting up the MSD and it controls my two fans independently? What temp should I set them to come on?

I think I have the Milodon 180F (82C) high flow thermostat in at the moment?

I'd set your low speed to come on at 90 or so and high speed at 95.
What temp does it run at normally? Does the thermostat actually keep it to 82?
I have one to go into mine.. have had it for ages. I'll probably put it in when I do the new cam.

Thanks Hybrid. Never checked what temp the thermostat actually opens at.

This is my newly rebuilt crate engine, it was still running a bit hot last year but I'm hopping it's just because it's running in. only has 600kms on it.

I have a Holley Sniper and set them 1st on at 185, off at 180 2nd on a 195 off at 185. Although I had a blocked radiator it seemed to do the job and kept the temps about 180-ish. I played around a fair bit chasing a collapsed lower hose.
When the rebuilt lump and new radiator go in over Christmas I'll see what temp it wants to be at and work around that. I have an 82c thermostat so try to keep it around there.

82 is pretty low. Mine doesn't come out of warmup enrichment until over 70.
Whatever works though!

I'm not smart enough to work that out. Only way I enrich mine is push the gas pedal harder.

Me too, the right foot fixes a lot of things!

Thanks smh00n, I'll try those temps. Bigger problem is it won't run which is a pain, I posted it to get some help.
