this was such a surprise to read this, although we never met we had many chats over the phone and via emails, great sense of humour and always positive, Made several parts for his collection of cars, and together designed the Trophy for the Canberra Show which he was passionately involved in. He will be greatly missed by so many, condolences to Heather and all the family .

Sorry to read that. A surprise indeed. Never met the man but had lots of chats with him. Always helpful and friendly. First Mert, then Boof and now this... And neither Mert (Richard) nor Ian looked like the kind of guys you'd suspect of dying any time soon. Makes one grateful for each day...

From Dave Burnett ....

Hi everyone,

The arrangements for Jacko's funeral this Friday have been set.

For those wishing to escort the hearse from Fyshwick to Belconnen on Friday, here are the details. If you would like to participate, please contact jbb via ozbilt (my details in my profile).

Please be at the starting point (InvoCare, 8 Whyalla Street, Fyshwick) before 1:30pm.
We hope to have the three Jackson cars there.
As we are expecting around 15 cars, we will need to park along Whyalla Street. John will be there to help. Please have your lights on, especially if you aren't in a mustang so John can see who is there.
In order to adhere to the ACT's COVID restrictions, please do not get out of your cars.
We will follow the hearse and family to the chapel at Tobin Brothers (101 Nettlefold Street, Belconnen). On arrival in Belconnen, please break away and head home.

With regards to the COVID restrictions, attending a funeral is allowed, but with a 20 person limit. By not getting out of our cars we shouldn't be counted as part of the 20, and we wouldn't be seen as an organised gathering. Also, we are able to leave our homes for up to 2 hours for exercise or recreational activities (such as going for a drive).

For those on ACT club plates, this is an authorised activity under the CRS rules as "other activities approved by the club registrar".

Live Streaming of the Service

Please see the link below for live streaming the service, which starts at 3pm. It will also be available via the same link for the next 90 days. I have included the AFP's notice of Ian's passing.

Kind regards,

David

I noted that Jacko is on the home page linked below. He was certainly busy with community service in his life.

Havent checked in for a while but Nassi just informed me of the sad news of Jacko's passing.
I didn't know Ian aswell as many others, however i have had the pleasure of his company twice when he has dropped in to catch up with me whilst visiting his WA family. A very friendly caring character with what seems a lot of time to give to others. I am shocked at his early passing and sad for his family, but honoured to have met him.
Bye Mate!

That was a tough and emotional journey watching the service today. Now it becomes our job to keep the memories alive and support Heather and the girls.

Cant agree more, i think the first thing we can do as friends is to see if we can finish the jag for Heather, sounds like that is what she would have wanted. Will see what we can do
