Hi guys, need to get a starter motor for the 347w & AOD.

Is this still the best one to get?
Bosch part number BXA005N. This is a 1.4KW FORD BRONCO 302 WINDSOR V8 85~96

Yeah mine is still going strong. But they seem to be a lot harder to get now.

Actually supercheap have one on ebay right now:

Edit: BTW, you probably know, but you need to get rid of the external solenoid. Though with you building from scratch that won't be an issue.

Thanks, yep I somehow remembered no solenoid required.

After 2yrs duty as a storage shelf during renovations, I finally got to clear off the car.

Is there a driveline angle I should be aiming for?
I'm currently at 3.5° with 1/2" drop motor mounts and no shims on the trans mount.
Going with 1" drop motor mounts will lower the driveline angle and give me more room around the headers. Will need a custom crossmember under the motor anyway as it already hits the sump.

3.5 degrees angle should be OK, although many places recommend 3 degrees or under for best u-joint life.
Not sure if it's just the angle of the pic, but the engine looks quite far forward.

Thanks

I'll have a look tonight where the motor is sitting, from memory it's centred with the towers with 2 exhaust ports either side.

The thing that stood out to me is that I have nowhere near that much room at the back of the engine.
I'm using standard engine mounts - hopefully the right ones

On the right hand side of the car, the head is 75mm from the firewall:

On the right hand shock tower, the centre of the tower is in line with the #2 sparkpus hole.

I just had a look at mine. I think it's fine - there's just so much stuff in my engine bay now so looks like there's no room.
I have the one peice export brace in mine too, so it covers up a lot of that space visually.

Happy to take the supercharger off your hands to free up some valuable space for you 😂

Anywhere between 1 and 3 degrees is considered good for uni-joint life but's it's also important your diff points up at the same opposing angle when sitting at ride height on the tyres.

This is an interesting old video on why we set the pinions at a slight angle - it shows the vibrations you get from having pinions in a straight line and putting an angle on them.

Thanks Ed

The diff spring pads aren't welded on yet, so I can set it once I'm happy with the driveline angle.

I'm not having much luck finding the Bosch BXA005N starter.

Looks like Bosch have discontinued this one.

What happened to the supercheap ebay ad?
I've also seen other brands such as Jaylec for the Bronco, but I have no experience with that brand.
