I can not emphasise enough how much of a difference it made with drone. I don't think drone is a cool/good sound. It is bloody annoying. The vibrations are the worst part. The exhaust on wot is the same sound. At idle it is also a similar sound, albeit a tad quieter. But on part throttle at low rpm's, or low rpms high throttle(ie going up a hill) it is a very quiet, exactly how I would want a car at low rpm's part throttle.
The low rpm high throttle was the most annoying, as I had a few hills where I lived. Drone seems to be at it's maximum under those conditions. It totally eliminated that.

So I have an update to this.
When I had to recently pull my driveshaft out, it was a nightmare with the pipes in place. I had to remove pretty much my entire exhaust to remove the DS. As I still wanted to play with the DS angle and get it as good as I could, I decided to cut the drone pipes off the exhaust to give me access to the DS once everything was put back together. I have the option of installing a v-band later on so they are removeable which I would recommend to anyone.
Anyway, went for a few drives without the drone pipes installed, and wow, again, I couldn't believe the difference. The car is so much louder everywhere, idle, driving etc. The drone has returned, and I honestly can't believe how obnoxious it is. Even my daughter was scared in the car(after being in there a few times already and loving it).
So just to add to Boofs article(RIP), they make a huge difference.

Might have to look into that. Mine is a lot louder since I got rid of the locking converter.
What were the dimensions you used? Should be pretty much identical for me.

26" mate. I really don't think they can be put anywhere on our cars that won't get in the way, so maybe a clamp or v-band style is the go.
To be honest though dropping headers back to the mufflers isn't that big of a deal. It would get pretty annoying if you had to do it twice in quick succession though, especially since I use copper rtv gaskets and have to clean/redo them each time.

Actually, if you're car wasn't too low and you didn't have subframe connectors, you might be able to put them like this. Keep them out of the way of everything. In fact you can put them where the hell you like.

Yeah I should have room somewhere. Mine isn't that low, nor has subframe connectors.

Are your pipes attached anywhere else other than where they are welded to your exhaust Husky..? just thinking about cracking issues at the welds.

Yeah mate they were tack welded to the end of the mufflers. Another thing that didn't make it user friendly I guess
