Great news. I only asked about the heater, A/C because of the recessed firewall. Just wondered what the solution was.
I will watch with interest.
cheers.

Well done John, congrats on getting it registered, can't wait to see it in the flesh. Stole the colour I wanted to paint mine, all good, always room for two fastbacks with colours other than red or blue lol

ill try and keep moving.
fitting engine and gearbox.
so like i said the engine choice was a brand new 4.6DOHC supercharged crate motor and new Tremec TKO500.
The plan is to keep the engine stock standard as its supposed to be a reliable road friendly car. And as the 67 is an auto i wanted the fastback to be a manual.
Heres what the engine/box looked like out of the car - a big beast.

Image

this picture i just found shows you the size difference compared to a 302w.
surprisingly from some specs i found say that the DOHC is 8 " wider and 50kg heavier

Image

As the radiator support panel was damaged i cut out the radiator section to make it easier trial fitting the engine for getting it in and out a few times. It will be replaced later when i do the body work. Also knowing the bell housing would hit the tunnel and there would be very little space at the firewall, i recessed the firewall a part of the build. This also allowed the engine to be kept back a little bit further in the car to help weight distribution.

Image
sorry i couldn't get the image rotated in postage.
However this shows in the early stages of trial fitting that there was absolutely no way the original heater fan would fit due to the size of the engine.

Nassi, this was the early point of searching for a decent alternative, which ended up as a vintage air unit.

You can see how much room the engine takes up in this photo. It would have been possible to fit the engine in with original towers, but would be bloody tight to work on anything and would at least require notching the towers. I know of another car with towers and stock firewall and theres no room to move anywhere easily. And from very early on i knew of this and wanted to have the mustang II suspension and no towers.

I think this photo gives you an idea of the engine setback its good but nothing massive.

the last 2 pics show some of the tunnel work

They are a monster of an engine. Good work.

Did the create motor come with efi ecu and wiring?

Hi boof,
the crate motor had the engine harness back to factory firewall plugs, alternator, ac, ps,basically everything ready to go into a car and start up.
No eco though.

Ill say more later, but brought brand new ford ECU from states plus O2 sensors and trick wiring kit, also changed fuel rails, removed the AC and Ps as didn't want them.

Looks good!
What kind of horse power does that baby put out!
What gear ratios did you get on your transmission and what rear axle ratio are you using?
