I would like that beefed up a little. I am maybe (likely) wrong but I am not convinced it is strong enough. I would add support to them to reduce flexing - maybe unnecessary.
I do not have an issue with the top mounts as the gusset is ample for what we ran on race and rally cars. However I always believed it needed a brace (tube would do) from the area where the top arm mounted then back to the firewall. On a race car that would be part of the cage.

John has installed torque boxes so what is there should be adequate for the road and as the engineer has ticked it off, then no need for me to say any more ....... :$

I do notice a few "Picton" shed pics there

The Aus Trans-am cars Woody builds have the cage extended to the shock tower, rules don't permit anything forward of the tower though

Nor would you want it forward on a road car. You need crumple zones ahead of the cross member.

Think boof was referring to the LCA mounts (might be wrong....again.) if mine I would triangulate the tube to reduce flex, may not be necessary but wouldn't hurt either ..

Yes that is what I figured he was saying. Reality they do not flex in road use.

Hi again, I'm back.
got so annoyed with bloody photo bucket, so thanks Jeff for the Post image function.

Going forward keep in mind that the car was built /modified, adjusted and tweaked , road tested and a lot of minor things that you may see and think are a bit out , have been finalised prior to the final build.
The car was then completely stripped again for body and paint.

so once the X member was installed i move onto painting and fitting the front suspension steering, brakes etc,
i also needed to make new panels to fill the space left by the shock tower removal as the ones supplied were poorly made and didn't fit properly.

Bought some steel sheet, i think it was around 2mm thick. Made a template and cut out the panels on the guillotine and cleaned up the edges, decided on a pattern for the swages to make it stronger and look a little factory like in appearance.
They are removable to assist with suspension arms and i use the plated bolts for a nicer appearance and these are use throughout the car where originals were unable to be used.

Nice update.

Has any one ever tested the reduction or otherwise in twist strength resistance aka stiffness compared to stock when a MII front has been installed?
I will someday think of something clever to say.

I Know Dave Johnson had to get his D type Jag replica torsional tested, was quite strict test.. I always think if I did a M2 front end which is unlikely I'd weld the shock tower holes up add a diagonal brace from the tip of the front rails to the firewall.
