Re: Effie tidy up...
Big props to Dono for rewiring the effie - We spent a few hours on delivery removing the old loom to give him a head start.
It was a birdsnest before, had smouldering under dash on a couple of day trips previously plus the electric fan would never
work properly leading to overheating issues.
American Autowire loom used, extras include - electric brake setup in cab and Anderson plug at rear, Mongoose Immobiliser,
subs and amp rewired, all interior lights and fan motors - engine watchdog rewired.
2 hr drive home yesterday digital readout showed fan cut in at 90deg back to 87 deg - even 13 sets of lights through town
didn't faze it.
3 week turnaround, MustangTech discount plus a wash before delivery - very happy camper.
Big truck = big fuses
Cheers

13 sets of lights in Coffs? What did you do, drive around town 3 times?

It's the bottleneck in the eastern seaboard highway - they say the bypass is 5 years away.

Where is Donauto? Haven't seen him on here much anymore.
"The simple answer is, even if I have decided I still don't know what to do."
Re: Effie tidy up...
He is the only auto sparky in town plus he has a growing family.
Mustang is down the list at present.
He'll get there though.

Props can mean compliment / respect / credit, for example: Erika gets props for the great work she did on the music. Wiktionary states that props is: (slang) proper respect or proper recognition for another person; an expression of approval or a special acknowledgment; accolade or accolades; praise.Jul 5, 2012

I was down there last week for 3 days. Certainly lots of good roadworks going on.Astro wrote:It's the bottleneck in the eastern seaboard highway - they say the bypass is 5 years away.
I was out at Darkwood in the Bellingen valley.
Beautiful place, but i can still hear those Deliverance Banjos playing in my head.
Have to go to Mullimbimby in 3 weeks, so if anyone needs any drugs, let me know.💉💊💰

The word "swims" upside-down is still "swims".

Re: Effie tidy up...
Need a bit of mechanical advice:
Pre the rewire, engine started, ran and sipped juice quite well - only issue was going around roundabouts/slow corners it would start to cut out/stall, I thought it would be the floats in the 600 Holley (fairly new).
On the morning that I took it up to Dono's (2hr drive) started it up and it immediately backfired everytime I released the accelerator the whole trip.
Driving back after the rewire and the past half dozen drives it's been back to normal, only the roundabout jitters still there.
Couple of days ago, I was braking down a hill and it cut out which is not fun esp when you need the vacuum for steering and brakes - and its continued plus it's taking a cranking while to start, before it would jump as soon as you touched the key.
So - I've got a full kit to put through the Holley, - was talking to a mechanic I know and he thinks it's spark, either plugs/leads or coil.It runs a Duraspark system.
Plugs/leads are new - coil not so much, mechanic suggests starting it at night and seeing if there's any sparks coming from plugs/leads/dist/coil.
Wondering if now that there is a good strong spark through the system that it's showing a weak point.
So - fuel or spark?
Cheers

Re: Effie tidy up...
The way it's behaving sounds more like fuel to me.
You've set the float heights using the windows or ports on the holley?
The only reason I would think it's spark is if something is moving when you hit the brakes or turn, but it seems unlikely.
Backfiring when you release the throttle sounds like lean popping (possibly low float height).
Hard to start can also point to low float height.
Cutting out around corners... again, float height.
Are you sure it's right?
