Questions about Mustrack, the Meitrack or the VT600 GPS trackers should be posted here.

Meitricks Android app (Beta) - Now in Google Play

Post by hybrid »

I've finished the first version of the Meitricks app, which is basically a friendly interface to the Meitrack SMS protocol for the MVT340 and MVT380 trackers.
I may add support for other devices down the track, so I have coded support for that scenario.

You can get the app here:
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/co ... .meitricks

Feel free to test and provide feedback. If there are commands missing that you think you will use, let me know and I can add them.

Until this app is put into the google play store, you may need to temporarily allow installation from unknown sources.
Go into your Android settings -> Security -> Unknown sources.

You can turn that off again after the app is installed.

Some features:
- Set phone number and pin of tracker
- Send tracking commands
- Send tracker configuration commands
- Reboot GSM/GPS modules
- Control tracker outputs
- Help dialogues for commands
- Configure ignition control depending how the ignition relay was configured (normally open/normally closed)

Re: Meitricks Android app - ready for testing

I've got a new version of the app ready to go, but I have removed the download link.
I found out you can release a "Beta" version of the app in the google play store and allow users access to it via a link.

Here's the link, also available in the first post:

Here's some artwork I did for google play.

And the "featured" image, in case Google decide to make it a featured app (hahahahahahaaaaaaaaa... yes, likely)

So where do you get the trackers from these days?
I will someday think of something clever to say.

You can get them on ebay. I think I still have one here, but I think someone had dibs on it. Maybe cage?

I would consider going for the new T333 model because it's 3G.
Telstra will probably decommission 2G in the next 12 months.

I don't see anyone selling them yet.

I did not see this as a feature but it would be logical to have (atleast in my mind).

Does the tracker have an optional GPS feed inside the car - such as a Bluetooth Serial feed so external software can use the GPS data as well?

No, the only external is via GPRS to a server.

working well hybrid. I noticed with the timezone set theres no way to enter +10. I assume that just 10 would do the same.

Yes, no need for +, but remember it's mins, not hours. So it will be 600

Been doing some research, and it looks like I will be able to integrate this app with the existing website to display the live map and history maps, as well as sending commands via GPRS instead of SMS etc.

My plan is to make this part of the app "billable", so it would be an in-app purchase to enable the GPRS/Mapping functions.
I need to decide how to create user accounts after a payment is made and decide on a billing format. I was thinking a yearly subscription.

Any thoughts on that? The problem with a once off payment for a service like the GPRS service is that it is ongoing.
A once off for an app is fine because you've done the development, they pay for the app and keep it forever. However with the GPRS stuff, I always have to maintain the service, so once off would send me broke.
I was thinking maybe $20/year for that part of the app. It would obviously also give them access to the website as well.
Is it worth it? Too expensive? Too cheap?

I wouldn't charge you or any of the testers G.
Hopefully there is a way I can choose accounts to get a freebee.
