The system we developed has special filters for the copy/paste users from word. The formatting being passed through can cause issues (as you have seen).
I will someday think of something clever to say.

Yes that's quite common, and there may well be similar filters in use here (I haven't checked).
The issue here is that because it was an old post, the data was already in the database from the old website, so it hasn't passed through the new website code at all.
The old website would have displayed it, but the characters wouldn't have displayed properly because the browsers (at least Firefox) can't display them either.

So now I know why I was thrown off the "other" forum. My "character" did not match their "character" ....... :stirpot:

Scott I just did a test on your Fairstang project.
I made a database change, then just clicked on the edit button of your post, then hit submit without changing anything. The post is now visible.

So you can just do that on any of your posts that are blank and it should fix it.

I don't know if my database change made any difference or not. That may have worked the whole time.

hybrid I can't log on from my lap top at work. When I try it says "unknown login method" or similar. Apologies if this has already been discussed.

Ideas?

Is this just a recent thing?
You didn't have facebook selected as the authentication type did you?
I've disabled it now anyway.

It's been happening for a couple of weeks ever since I took that laptop to that premises (haven't used it there for years). I checked, Facebook definitely wasn't selected as the source. It was playing up still today, I thought it might right itself but no.

Look forward to checking it tomorrow, thanks.
