Maybe pick the rarest colour pallet, so you don't have line up with or look at too many others the same..

Oxford blue or Ivory White. I love the cream/off white colours in old cars but only deep rich colours give great rewards when beautifully polished.

The royal blue shades of the era look stunning and very classy. IMO, BRG as much as I love the colour, is too "expected" and red, well.....

Have to agree with Rick. If the body work was questionable I'd go Ivory but I'm guessing the body will be schmick so it deserves a colour like dark blue to show it off.

& this is my favourite of them all, Bob's 1948 MG TC. The headers are Bob Holden's off his TC race car here in Australia.

Bob had heard about an engine for sale near Newcastle & asked me if I had heard of him.

"Heard of him?" I said ..... "He is the god of the A series engine. I had a Mini van that was a replica of Bob Holden's Mini van that he ran in the Mini Monte back in the late 60's, complete with Cooper S running gear & brakes. An awesome car that I would love to have back today"

So Bob buys the engine (complete with headers) & ships back to California. Engine turned out to be a cheater that was out to 1500cc. At this time the engine is complete & on a stand in Bob's garage.

Notice the grille mesh. We found it in Hong Kong at our fav markets that we haunt. The front mudguards are another thing we made. Had the aluminium metal spun in two sections that I welded together on the top of the center bead line & that produced 3 mudguards from two spins.

Not a fan of the red, but the other two I don't mind.
The two tone looks nice.

This thread brings back some memories - my late father bought a new TD back in the day, Silver Streak Grey with red interior. A really beautiful car although he always said he wished he had got the TC as he preferred the wire wheels. I've just passed his personalised number plates from the MG (long gone) which have been in the family since 1953 on to my 'P' plate driving daughter as they have the same initials.

Cheers.

Like many, I'm really enjoying this thread. Keep it coming Oz.
The Oxford blue would certainly do the panels justice as Lee mentioned, but it would be up there with black with respect to keeping it looking clean.

Your favorite looks spot-on in that colour combination, love the contrast of the green against the cream against the walnut dash. Beautiful.

Tough decision for your man, it's not like it's just a set of wheels that can easily be changed afterwoods :)

TC's were never 2 tone ..... :vomit:

Only the cars with the lines of the N series & the W series sedans usually got the 2 tone that I know of.

I built a WA sedan in the late 1980's & it was then painted burgundy with creme in the middle. This is not the car, but a good history of the model .......
