Ronin187 - pics as promised

Post by Ronin187 »

Morning guys, well after a big night on the cans, what better way to spend a morning / hangover than putting up project pics?

So a little background. I'd bought the car from a older gentleman up in the central coast region. He'd imported it after a long search to find a "rust free Californian car". Only thing he really wanted a 66, but settled on a 67.

So after keeping it for a year, and not really getting into it as much as he would've liked he put it up for sale. I was the first viewer and picked it up for a really good price.

Now one of his selling points was the it was "totally rust free". I was...suspicious, but as it turns out, the car actually is rust free!

Here she is when I first got her home

I think at this point ( 5 years ago now ) I was ditching the skinny radials and putting on the Cragars.

Fixed your pics.

You need to copy and paste the [IMG] links from photobucket, not the html links.

After a few months of enduring the puke green carpet :vomit: I decided to lay some dynamat, and black carpet

rust free floor ( save some mild surface scale )

Engine bay after installing some go-fast shiney bits. If I had my time again, I'd have gone with ALOT less chrome. Having a mild case of OCD it irks me when there smudges etc on the chrome...

I was still getting a lot of heat and noise in the car after installing a single layer of the dynamat ( which bummed me out cause that stuff aint cheap )
So after talking to a mate we tried a layer of water proof carpet under lay.
Works like a charm!

That's it for now. Ill upload some more pics this afternoon. I'm taking my hangover to the couch to watch episodes of roadkill....

Wow, nice job on the carpet. Came out much nicer than mine.
My moulding wasn't the best I dont think. At least that's what I'm blaming

Did you install the underlay over the top of the dynamat?

Yeah, dynamat, then underlay. To be quiet honest I'm not totally happy with the carpet. I've replaced it once more since these photos, and it's still not as smooth / formed as I'd like.

That is a very clean car, wish mine was like that when I got it. Would have saved me a lot of $$$. Very nice car.

Ronin hey buddy was checking out the project page to get some inspiration for my own ride and low and behold i find an earlier version of Ronin's beast.

Keep the pics coming. I might even start recording my 65's journey thus far.

PS I took the corty down to Harry cafe de wheels a couple of weeks ago great buzz. Hundreds of cool rides looked liked fast and furious sans the French kissing babes.
