Now for something completely different......

Post by trav68 »

Howdy,
Mustang has been neglected as spent some time fixing up the old boys International Harvester 1963 AB- 150 truck for him. He has owned this thing since 1966 but is now only driven occassionally for sentimental reasons. Truck is neat and was cosmetically freshened up after it was retired from market garden duties many years ago.

Damaged rings and pistons on cylinder 1 and 2 meant it was time for a quick rebuild.....but if you are going to do a job you may as well do it right huh!?

The starting point:

Image

Image

Back from Danny@Performance Mods in Osborne Park freshly bored, honed, crank polished etc etc. Already had new 20thou pistons, rods and some other goodies acquired conveniently a few years back...maybe we jinxed ourselves.

Crank in

Image

Bottom end all buttoned up

Image

Cam in and end float checked out
Image

Rotating all done and better than new

Image

Bit of detailing to make it look the part

Image

Dizzy has a new Ignitor module headings its way after some correspondance with the wizards at Petronix customer service. Will pull it apart and give it a once over after I get the bits

Serviced head back ready to bolt up

Now back to painting which is a bit more my element.

Before
Image

After a cheap and cheerful clean up that better matches the new heart

Seems to be some auto rotate thingy going on with the photos above so apologies for the neck workout.

Keep on truckin'

Good stuff. Looks excellent. I like build threads so I am glad your posting.
I will someday think of something clever to say.

Yeah looks much better... but where is it going to end?
The engine bay and engine are going to make the rest look worse now!

Awesome work as always Trav. How about some pics of the International?
Maybe you can make it into a Kincrome "shop truck" with a bit of signwriting. You might be able to wangle a whole new set of tools for yourself.

Looks good Trav.

There is a bit of a shortage of new projects on here at the moment so keep the updates coming.

Engine all done and quickly fired up. With a cough and a splutter straight out of the manifold it sprang to life 51 years after its first start up.

Engine in, plumbed and wired just got tailshaft and a few other goodies to reinstall.

New set of ignition leads has arrived with some other goodies from Summit so will tidy them up next visit.

Yeah, agreed Mike it is nice to spend some time with the old boy even if we do get on each others nerves by the end of the day. haha

Cheers,
Trav

Cheers ozbilt. The AB150 is neat-ish but the real show pony is the 1941 KB-5 which is fully restored and is the old boys pride and joy.

Trav that KB 5 is awesome, i saw a similar red one parked up in Baldivis a few weeks ago that made me cruise around the block again in the Caddy to have another look.

Now that KB5 is beautiful. The work that would have gone into that truck to make it what it is today would have been astounding ......

Even more impressive when you consider the work the truck would have done up t that point.

Very nice indeed.
