Project Pheonix

Post by 66STNG »

Hi,
im starting a new thread on my car as i was not sure if it was going to be a goer or not. i needed to some more investigation into the vehicle and how bad the damage was.

The 66 coupe was salvaged from a fire that occured in a workshop. it had a 302 and a 4 speed behind it.
I found the coupe in Bathurst, it had all the running gear removed, and in very rough nick.
So, i took a punt and brought it home to wollongong with the hope of restoring this beauty back from the ashes, hence ( project pheonix).

The Coupe
1st port of call, ring Kerry and tell him what i have done, kerry came down, looked at the car and said, Lets build a Mustang

Did i mention the Coupe is RHD.
i ordered the roof, as it was very burnt and very dented.
the dash was gone,
the battery holder was in good nick though.... :help:

I sent it to the blasters for a better look , how much more rust?????

When it comes back spray it with some Intergard 269, ship primer as an etch/tie primer.

You really want to use photobucket etc instead of uploading to this site.

Lee wrote a good article on how to use photobucket.
http://www.mustangtech.com.au/Forums/vi ... /t=12.html

There are also phone apps now, so you can upload photos taken with your phone straight to photobucket.

the roof arrived last week, looks groooovy.
Went over to see Kerry to get some well needed advise.
he suggested glueing the roof skin on and welding the ends where they go down the pillars. I have some liquid nails and silastic, but he suggested Sikaflek..

Good stuff - I love build threads. Need news ones since many are close to being finished. Keep up the good work - looks like the helpers are also having fun. That is the way it should be..
I will someday think of something clever to say.
