I was thinking somewhere around 18 ft.
I have done some research but cannot get definate
answers regarding duties and taxes.
Prices were from 5000 to 7500 excluding taxes and ipmort duties.
Will have to look into it a little further...........

My old neighbour exports boats. I helped him get started and now hes doing 1-2 a week. From memory, your on the money, just depends on which state its shipped out of. You can actually do RoRo aswell now (roll on roll off)

I can get you his details if you need some answers....shoot me an email

Cheers

Interesting watching the loading & unloading of a container carrying a boat & trailer.

They roll the container onto it's side & then load it & tie down. Container is then shipped upright with the boat & trailer on it's side during the voyage. Unloading is carried out in a similar way to the loading.

One thing I have heard is a big duty/tax (whatever) is payable to the RTA in NSW (don not know about other states) on any trailer that is imported. I may be wrong, but worth checking as it may be better just to bring the boat only. The figure that was quoted to me was AU6K to the RTA. Enough for me to leave my 24' enclosed trailer in CA where it is at present.

Thank you all for your imput.
I have a quote for roll on roll off.
Now for what I have found only GST
is payable on the purchase price of the boat
including shipping.
Same as importing a car.
No duty is payable on the boat if it is made in
the states.
Still waiting on how much for the trailer tax.......

Whilst we are waiting - ill tell you a story about "shipping" a boat. A good mate of mine's dad was looking at importing a boat and supposedly they are cheaper off the coast of Africa or Madagascar or something. So they had an idea as to what they were after - flew over - paid for it and sailed/drove the bastard back.

Said that it was an amazing experience. When he arrived in Fremantle customs were there ready though and they had to stay on the boat whilst they were boarded and they checked the whole thing out.

I am not a boat person whatso ever but something like this - i would love to do.

BOAT - Break Out Another $Thousand$
(PRAYER) Oh thank you Wild Turkey American Honey & Cola in those small thin bottles, for giving me the strength to act like a half wit, and say stupid things at inappropriate times, semi-anonymously, on a public forum.
Amen.
