Re: GPS CAR TRACKING SYSTEMS
I like your idea. We need to keep our cars out of the wrong hands.
Cheers.

Re: GPS CAR TRACKING SYSTEMS
Functions look very similar to all the other ones. Are they made in Aus, or Mongoose just an aussie company?
Re: GPS CAR TRACKING SYSTEMS
The others I posted are Australian too.

Thats the problem, they don't own them..... and they shouldn't have ours, either!!
In the other thread, there is talk of whether they need a direct link to the sky, I notice my Garmin works about 100m into a tunnel, so maybe they don't need to be too fussy?
Or if they have a seperate antenna, you could put it in the front speaker grille? (Top of Dash)

Spooky, you should have held off mate.. I think we'll be able to get those for under 100 bucks direct from supplier.

They do have a separate antenna usually.blkpny wrote: In the other thread, there is talk of whether they need a direct link to the sky, I notice my Garmin works about 100m into a tunnel, so maybe they don't need to be too fussy?

Are you sure about your Garmin? Mine "guesses" it's way for a while once you're in a tunnel based on your speed before the signal was lost, but then it gives up after 500m or so.

Re: GPS CAR TRACKING SYSTEMS
Hybrid,
It may be a case whereby we ask the supplier/developer that to support better representation of the product they need to supply a longer aerial cable to allow fitting in behind the front grill. If these devices are not obvious, it gives us the oportunity to track the vehicles and knock on the clowns door before the police arrive to do their bit. It could be as simple as a long cable as opposed to a small square plastic box(that looks like a GPS aerial) Your thoughts???

Re: GPS CAR TRACKING SYSTEMS
My understanding of the GPS/Satelite systems has always been that its "line of sight."
Basically a straight beam that bounces to and from each satelite. Which is why any satelite product does not work well in poor weather.
And all Satelite antennas I have seen are a little box looking thing rather than a wire, so it may be integral to the design.
I'll do some digging anyway.
