My 65 Mustang "Sally"

Post by snake009 »

Hey guys

I've been lurking these forums for awhile now, really the best mustang forum around. Great advice and lots of cool people. A far better crowd here then certain other forums :)

So I figured I should post a thread about my ride and myself.

I live on the Sunshine Coast, QLD and I own a 1965 Coupe with 289w, I bought it in working order with nice paint and over the past 3-4 year I've been modifying it to suit my taste (slightly resto but still oldschool)

I removed all the rust I found (minor in floors and guard)
Wilwood discs all round with wilwood booster
Torque boxes / Subframe connectors
All new suspension and steering
Bracing, dry cell battery, 18" wheels, 2.5" exhaust, headers, all the usual stuff. Also a heap of minor fixes like locks etc etc.

I've done HEAPS more to this car, so just going to let the images do the talking, feel free to ask any questions.

(sorry the picture suck, taken from an iPhone)

Cheers, Jake.

I've got stacks more photos and hardly listed any of the work done over the years to get her where she is today. But this should do :-D

My question too. Almost look bigger but they must be 18's ??
(PRAYER) Oh thank you Wild Turkey American Honey & Cola in those small thin bottles, for giving me the strength to act like a half wit, and say stupid things at inappropriate times, semi-anonymously, on a public forum.
Amen.

I did look at Simmons, Foose and Boyd.. Simmons I liked but wasn't totally sold, I think it's because I was into rotaries and they all had Simmons on their early rides.
Foose Nitros looked good, but I couldn't get them in anything under a 20"
Boyd's were going to cost me and arm and leg, with a lead time of 6months... so this is what I ended up with.

The wheels I first had on there were a bit dodgy, had to keep getting them balanced, I think one rim was bent. Also they were only 14" and I couldn't fit the 12" Wilwoods I wanted under them. Oh yeah and that much sidewall sucked on the track.

For sure, I go to every "American" day and most the other hot rod / trans-am days, I'll be there tomorrow and the 4th of July weekend.

18x7 on the front, 18x8 on the rear... The rear was a total bitch, I had to roll the guards and have the wheels machined to fit.

Do you know the backspace on the front and rear rims? good as a reference to others of what can and cant fit, modifications etc.

Sorry :/, I really don't remember.. but I had to machine about 12mm off each wheel in the end.. They did fit and American Wheel Republic did an "early ford backspace" so they actually went on no prob, but they were hitting my guards since I lowered the car so much.
