I have a similar problem viewing the site on the ipad so I use the links at the top left of the screen under main menu. I think they are all the same as the ones across the top that have drop down boxes.

I know we've been over this before but my Mac (over 6 years old now) has never given an ounce of trouble! No viruses / spyware or stupid non-descript error messages. The several PC's I gone through , although I can't live without them for work purposes , are just rubbish to use in comparison. Really no comparison from my point of view (although I do not do any programming - I can see where PC would be easier/better in that regard).
The Mac just turns on & works ALL the time - only annoyed by software updates , not all the other shit my PC's make me waste time ( & money) on when I could be doing something else with my life.
"Once you go Mac , you'll never go back"

If cars were PC based , we'd all be stuck on the side of the road rebooting several times before allowing us to continue & the airbag system would ask"Are you sure?" before deploying.
If cars were Mac based , they'd be powered by the Sun , reliable , 5 times as fast & twice as easy to drive........but would only run on 30% of the roads... :(

Yeah... see Mac users always come out with that stuff.

I have used PC's for years without any virus troubles. But then I'm not stupid enough to go clicking on random links or visiting questionable sites (except this one  )
Macs OSX is based on Linux/Unix (yeah apple copied something else), so it's pretty stable, but don't think it's any more secure. It's secure in it's obscurity. In other words, hackers don't bother with exploits for it because it's user base is small in comparison. Especially in the corporate world where most damage can be done.

By the way, while we're on this subject of security in Windows  ... if any of you use Windows and access your desktop remotely, you should patch your machine NOW if you haven't already. This is a very serious one.

My beef with Windoze is that even if you maintain it perfectly (which is no small effort) it still eventually grinds to a halt just by attrition, eventually requiring a rebuild.

I'd rather spend my spare time tinkering with a Mustang that fking around with Windoze installs.

P.S. Mac OSX is actually based on BSD, which is completely different to Linux (and Unix which is different again to Linux and BSD). Apple has maintained its fork of BSD (called Darwin) since before Windows 2000, so its not exactly new and hasn't simply been copied from something else.

You're right about Unix as its own system, but these days it is a general term for all flavours of "unix-like" systems, from BSD to Linux to Solaris and others.

Sorry, but again I have to disagree. My Linux boxes take more maintenance than my windows boxes do. Sure, you can let them sit there and run for years if you're happy to be running on old kernels and associated software.

And it doesn't matter how long apple have been maintaining OSX for. It's still based on someone elses (actually many others) work all fancied up for the masses, just like most of their products :)

:rotfl: Ok , I'll bite..........

Sorry it took so long to reply but I couldn't see the screen for tears as I was scoffing so hard. No , honestly , I nearly had to throw up , my cheeks were hurting so much. My 2 year old started crying because I was laughing so hard!! I laughed so much , I lost my appetite & general sense of direction. I laughed harder than the top 10 laughing things at a laughing thing convention.
Is that the best you got ??? Really...?? At last , I have some form of threat to my Mac!! , after all this time!!..& a quick fix (probably covered in the next , nearly daily , software update that Apple are so goddamn efficient at , cos they f&*king care about me!!) solves all my problems. That's really great cos I need all my spare time to service all the friggin spyware/malware/virus programs on my various PC's so they don't get f&*ked over by the gadzidbillion potential threats out there.

Please take this in good jest as I love the banter & have a lot of pre-easter JD's under my ever expanding belt tonite. See , even spelling in yankee. Merry Easter , PC loving freaks..
:tomcat:

  p.s. I forgot! They mention down the bottom , that "The Flashback Trojan is believed to have been around since September 2011 and has infected both Microsoft's Windows and Apple's Mac operating systems."

Put that in your Mustang pipe & smoke it :poke:  Kimosabe

High Ho Silver , AWAY !!!!!!

Now that your rant is done Dono, I'll let some facts get in the way. One of the things that many are complaining about in this instance is that apple are very slow to update their branch of Java.

IMO, it's very sad that the vulnerability has been around since 2011 and had until now not been patched by apple.

I still don't understand how people end up with PC's riddled with viruses. I have not had one in 15 years. Actually I do know how.

They download pirated software with viruses embedded, so they WILLINGLY install it. They go to porn sites and get a popup saying "do you want to see more vagina?" so they click yes and WILLINGLY install it. They get an email saying "your fedex parcel delivery failed - click on this executable file we sent you to check its status"... they click yes and WILLINGLY install it.

Yeah there have been some vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash, Adobe PDF Reader (see a pattern here?) and Java, which have been able to silently install trojans, but these are applications, not the operating system.

And as we see here, Apple can run vulnerable applications too, but they seem to take longer to patch them.

Today we had a client bring his PC in with a virus.... he did nothing wrong of course. Probably has a Mac at home.

It didn't take us long to find the culprit. Guess what was in his internet history? Mind you, this is a WORK PC, and this is just one day of the history. Every day for the last two weeks was exactly the same.
Want a look? Kids and Ladies, don't click on the link. There is a reason I didn't attach the pic directly. And if any of you are silly enough to go to any of these sites knowing this PC was infected, you deserve a trojan!

If you love your Mac, beg that it never becomes the most popular operating system in the world, coz I don't think your stomach is big enough to eat that much humble pie.

gbx: the blurred one is actually our clients website. I'm sure he only visited that one because it's probably set as the default.

Someone loves their porn. I hope you used gloves before using his keyboard, would have been a tad messy.

As for the debate on PC vs Mac, these things are beyond my tiny little brain. My puter has a button I can turn it on & off with. Beyond that it is a mystery.

PC,s??? as in computers??? I thought they were talking about a large Macdonalds store that has lots of Windows (97 of them apparently) and how refreshing it is that they have a new Trojan Apple fritter to the Menu . I must admit the threat of Viruses infecting their food didnt sound too good, that would just give you a Microsoft on.
