Re: Project Blue
Yeah probably no pressure for the direct clutch without it. Hopefully it's that simple.
Doesn't sound like an AOD expert if he doesn't know the differences between years.
The direct drum is so small, it's hard to make it handle decent torque with off the shelf parts. And I'm starting to think the forward drum may have the same issue now.

Re: Project Blue
We both should have gone AODE from the start. My 95 had around 350 KW with the huffer on and with a shift kit handled it well. I picked up a large batch of AOD's cheap so went that way..

Re: Project Blue
AODE is not much better.
Mine now has 4R70W internals, but the direct clutch is the same in both anyway.

Re: Project Blue
Nah, just learn more tricks to overcome the issues.

Re: Project Blue
Sounds good, what is the idle speed?
Re: Project Blue
About a grand. When warm should idle nice at 750

Re: Project Blue
When you get a chance (not urgent) can you get some measurements of the astra steering pump for me. I can then start looking at possible places to hide it.Nuts wrote: Also gone is the Ford C2 power steering pump, being replaced with an electric unit from an Opel Astra. They are a bit bigger than I thought and will not fit behind the slash guard which was my original intention. Now it sits on the left front apron where the FCC was. It covers the holes nice.. These can draw more current than fans & headlights together so I have upgraded my wiring to suit.

260 high 220 wide 140 deep with cradle. It will fit behind the Splash guard on a 67/8.

Re: Project Blue
My AOD fix worked. I now have 3 and OD. However, 2nd just doesn't want to play. There's been 4 people playing with this valve body and I suspect there is now a mismatch of components so into the bin. with that one.. I have purchased one modified by Broader Performance that hopefully will sort it.. $295 and here in Oz! Bargain.. On to other projects for the time being..

Re: Project Blue
I was looking at that one but worried it was too aggressive for the street.
Re: Project Blue
Will soon let you know Dwayne. Been talking to Broader about this one. My problem is how will the shifter handle a PRNO/D21 pattern? Will wait and see. The shift pattern can be changed I suppose.. Will wait and see.
