When I learnt to drive here in OZ, i learnt in a mix of vehicles. Albeit I was a lot younger, I had no problems. I predominatley spent my time in 6 different cars, often swapping several times on the same day....
XE falcoon sedan auto
XB falcoon ute, auto
HX Shagwagon, 308 4 speed full synchro
EJ 3 on the tree...no synchro on 1st.
1943 Ford (willys) GPW Jeep. LHD, 3 on the floor no synchro
1945 Ford GPA (amphib) as above.
Whilst i was young an invincible, you still have to take stock of the risks, and drive appropriatley.
If you are a good driver and are comfortable advancing your skills, leave it left hook. If you want to drive around staring at highway markers with your head up your A, then throw a ton of money at it and convert it.
You'll find your biggest issue will be getting in the correct door

The worst thing is when you get into the wrong side on the daily.
On topic, one of the requirements when i purchased my Mustang was that it was LHD and auto. I know that there is nothing like manual driving, downshifting into/out of a corner but my old girl was bought to be a arm out the window cruiser. I bought auto and never once have i had any regrets.
Buy LHD. It adds that bit of "special". Especially when you pull up to the lights and there is a cute blonde thing in the car over.
However, LHD sucks for the following reasons:
McDonalds drive through
Drive through bottle shops
Multi storey parking

Nothing hard about driving a lefty with a manual, even for a bit of spirited fun. And as Cam said when there's a hot blonde or brunette in the car next to you even better ( as long as the missus isn't in the seat next to you)

I took both my cars for a drive yesterday, one after the other, one is LHD the other is RHD.
The only thing that got to me was when I went back to my RHD car I walked towards the passenger door and noticed the steering wheel was missing.

At my old workshops location, where i used to get wheel aligns (they were very good), my fuel, customers fuel, my smokes and sundries, they used to take bets when i rolled up in a stang as to whether i would enter the correct side.. Rather embarrassing when you get all buckled up and look up to see no steering wheel. and you just cannot shimmy across over the top of a 40 yr old console...you gotta get out and award a winner to the crowd
....the bums used to even fax me who the winner was!
if its yours its something you get used to quickly.....try have 2 identical 67 verts in the shop at the same time...1 left 1 right... drove me batty and i left closing up to mother lol

The original post was just about driving a manual LHD Vs an auto. I don't think he's concerned about the LHD/RHD aspect of things.

It doesn't take too long to get used to manual LHD.
My first experience of LHD was in a military General Utility 818 recovery truck in rush hour traffic through central Christchurch. Between double de-clutching on every gear change and cringing every time a car disappeared under the front bumper I soon got the hang of it.

The getting in the wrong side on the daily driver isnt an issue when the stang IS the daily driver
