hybrids 66 fastback "project"

Post by hybrid »

This isn't intended to be a project, but .... you know how it is

I bought this one sight unseen from Vic. Turns out is a pretty decent example.

It arrived yesterday (weds) after leaving Monday, which is pretty good.

It's new home.

It has a coolant leak I need to track down. It's spraying coolant onto the bonnet and engine. Hopefully something simple like the radiator cap.
Edit: Nope, the top tank is blown away from the core.

I'm going to put this one on restricted rego, so I also need to chase all that down. Find a club etc and work out what I need to do.

https://ansma.com.au/ will let you join on line and they are hysterical rego compliant.
https://duralauto.com/ will pink slip it for you

Now you need a white one to make the tri bar set.

Thanks, I'll check them out.
I have a good pink slip guy, but not sure if there are any special requirements for historical.

Do you only need a pink if you're going historic, not a blue?
It's currently unregistered.

Dural automotive does do special pink slips for historic. Wink.
I forgot to mention, ANSMA don't require you to attend club meetings, go on runs or do any clubby things. Pay your money, get your number and wait 12 months.

Been doing some little bits and pieces on the fastback. The purists are going to hate me more than they already do :poke:
I put a pertonix 3 unit in it to get rid of the points.

The "coolant leak" ended up being that the top tank was blown open. It was only a tiny 2 row anyway, so I've put one of the Scott Drake alloy 2 rows in it now.
This car came with the Rally-Pac gauges, but I really didn't like that the tacho was in series with the ignition and would cause the car to stop if it failed. I also suspect it didn't like the pertronix 3 and vice versa, but that's yet to be properly determined.

I bought a 2 5/8in Speco tacho and shoehorned it into the Rally-Pac housing. So now have a regular tach that attaches to the negative terminal of the coil.

Got the blueslip for this one yesterday, so just waiting on the club to do their thing now to get it on conditional plates.
Next up will be to fix the fold down seat when Kerry gets back from O/S.

We got the historic rego!
It took 3 months after buying the car, but we finally got there.
Just some final touchup work to be done now like getting the rear seat latches sorted.

I've been given some free pacemaker headers as well that I might put on it eventually, but no rush there.
