Falcon speedo into a '70?
Has anyone done or tried putting something like an XB Falcon speedo into a 1970 cluster?

Haven't seen one before, but have seen the 5 gauges from an xc gxl in a 67 coupe, they fit the original cluster really well.

Ive got an ED falcon dash in Frankenstang
The word "swims" upside-down is still "swims".

I meant just the speedo head, not the whole cluster.
US man wants $185US for a reco km/h unit so I was wondering if the Falcon one would fit into the original cluster.
Too mean to buy one off ebay and try it

I don't think the XC gauges are an easy fit as they don't have their own lighting. I fitted some XD/XE gauges and lighting was a problem. and still is. I am still thinking about installing a complete cluster from something else. Saw a nice cluster a few years back in, believe it or not, a toyoda (Pete will be pleased). Still looking.

Reality is no matter what you do, it will not be accurate. Too many variables such as gearing, speedo tooth number, Tyre size and wear etc.
In the 60's and 70's I used to set up the navigation speed and mileage device in rally cars. Each rally was set by the organizer and you went to a designated mile marked road (Woodville Rd in Sydney was one we used amongst others) and changed the gears in the Halda until you got it spot on. Same car same drivetrain but each time it would be different depending on Tyre size, wear or even Tyre pressure.
My opinion, learn what the conversions are and use the traffic as your peripheral vision to keep tabs on traffic around you.
You guys overthink these cars. They are simple, reliable (if maintained) in my opinion don't need too much to enjoy them. Most here are one day a week cars at best. Back when I lived in California, our 69 was a daily driver. Other than radial tyres, it was stock. Although the USA uses miles, the 69 was right hand drive, so the same issues as driving a left hand drive car here.

Well an XB speedo won't fit without a bit of mucking around. Too deep by a smidge, the mount screws are the opposite to Mustang and the face is a bit too big.
But, it only cost 60 bucks to find this out
Anyone rebuilding an XB Falcon??
