Recommendation for a chassis alignment Panel Beater in Bris?

Post by Chux »

I am thinking that before I progress too much further with resto I really should check the body alignment on my mach 1.

I bought a shelby brace and it doesnt fit - when bolted into RH tower and onto firewall it is about 20mm out - weirdly not leaning in particularly much but more leaning back.

I am thinking with engine out I could reinforce the firewall with timber and probably use a porta power to push it forward but have been thinking that perhaps I should just see what is really out, as it has had a small hit on the RH side at some point evidenced by the really crappy repair to the RH door and guard....although not hard enough to require replacements.

So anyone got someone that would have an alignment frame like Kerry's that I could take the beast to and get it checked and pulled?

Thanks

Craig

Get hold of a frame chart and measure it up. See if you have a "Real" problem before forking out heaps to put it on a frame table.. The shock towers do move over time depending on it's previous history. But these are easily straightened. Minor chassis bends and twists are a little bit harder but doable at home as long as you have a good garage floor.

Thanks Nuts, pretty sure I have seen the frame charts before with online searches.
I will do the Boss braces once it is straight to stop that tower shifting.

I do have a good shed floor at least - I didn't do it :-)

Not terribly different.

I have the 69/70 dimensions here if anyone wants them. I will scan and post it later today.

Busy getting stuff together for my next trip.

Yep used to own Crusin body and Custom works at Tingalpa, an Eleanor he did got 2nd place at the Brisbane Hot rod show a couple of years back, he's won stuff at Summer-nats back in the 80's with his own cars. Just have to kick the chickens and goats out of the spray booth down on the farm. He's good guy and excellent panel beater. As it happens he rang me this afternoon, for advise on and MG engine on a car is painting.

Thanks mate. I’ll see how I go with some measurements but Dave sounds like a good place to start otherwise.
