Re: So my Yella Terra Roller rockers started making a high rattling /ticking sound

Whilst I am not an expert I can tell you my experience. I've just built a 347, using Dart heads with their springs and valves, checked for weight by the engine builder, Comp Cams roller lifters, crane .080" pushrods and Scorpion roller rockers. I don't have noises, problems or whatever and I am...

Re: 347 dyno results

It was run on a chassis dyno. I dunno how to upload a video directly here. Hybrid....??????? The man tells me he expects a 20% loss so maybe 420 at the crank? Dunno if that's regular or bragging rights power. @hybrid I did look at your table and it was close to what I was working to and did help, bu...

Re: So my Yella Terra Roller rockers started making a high rattling /ticking sound

Nothing wrong..... if it was a diesel :) I don't know the answer but perhaps there is some geometry issue there? To my poor eyes it looks like the 3 rollers pictured all have different wear patterns? A quick ask of Dr Google reveals that soft springs will give valve bounce, so can you run the thing ...

347 dyno results

After many a month, I finally stuck my car on the chassis dyno yesterday. I have to give a massive shout out to @shaunp as he answered all sorts of dumb questions, gave me advice and basically held my hand for the engine build. The specs are USA 8.2" roller block Scat cast crank H beam scat ste...

Re: hybrids 1966 Coupe Project

Not insulting your ability but I just got mine tuned by unigroup engineering in Toongabbie.

Picked up 30hp from first to last run (8 runs total), the car is driveable through all ranges. He mapped both ignition and fuel, did other stuff and made it work.

Re: hybrids 1966 Coupe Project

If the headers get all too hard then I recommend FPA in the US. The Patriots I had for mine didn't fit the Dart heads (I'll blame Summit website too, but it does state basically standard motor fitment) and they started leaking so I forked out a cuppla thousand for their long tube versions to suit my...

Re: hybrids 1966 Coupe Project

Exhaust is crap. I feel your pain, I have to tweak mine but I think the thumping on the floor is fine when I start thinking of angles and joins.

Why can't we talk about the lump? It looks ok from here. Could we get Rhonda to come over and give you a hug? Or Karen is free I heard

Re: hybrids 1966 Coupe Project

I use heat shrink at the end of the wrap. Looks much nicer than cable ties and keeps the braid from unbraiding.

This post bought to you by the OCD Society of NSW.

Thanks.

Hoping/wondering you set fire to the stuff BEFORE you installed it in the car :argh:

sound deadener recommendations

I need to put some sound deadening mat under the rear seat. Have mufflers ending under the diff so a bit loud.
There's cheap and there's dear - anyone recommend one that works?
Ideally I'd get cheap and works but if dear and works is the answer so be it.

Re: Muffler recommendation

Well, I ended up with Redback tri flow's. Australian made, $125 each.
At idle probably just as loud as the Aeroflow, but at speed it is much quieter and not raspy.
Lost a lot of drone as well. Only been on the car for about 60 km's, the installer said they will get a bit quieter as they carbon up.

Re: Muffler recommendation

Probs over the top for me. I was thinking Lukey but seems they have been sold and the new product is not as good as it once was.

Muffler recommendation

I need new mufflers. Have Aeroflow and they are too loud. Sound great at idle but too noisy inside and out. The interweb videos seem to suggest that Flowmaster 40 delta flow are good. 44 are supposed to be quieter but they have a higher tone to my ears. Perhaps 50 might be quieter? Anyone used Lukey...
