Re: Shaun's 69 Coupe build

I’ve seen Pinto Pete’s lovely avatars, my avatar is actually my lovely wife! I’m very proud of her, in the past 5 years she’s given birth to 3 kids, put up with me and lose 30kgs.

Re: Shaun's 69 Coupe build

Hi Guys! Back for the yearly update. 3 toddlers are certainly keeping me occupied and away from the Mustang!! About all I've done in the last 12 months is look at the coupe once in a while and buy some more parts. I've got most of the gear together to put a borgeson power steering box in and I'm loo...

Re: Lowering seats

Talk to your engineer first. Whoever is signing off on your car will have to be happy with how you fit the seats. I assume you have had someone go over the changes to the car by now, as they usually want to inspect the welds etc before paint. The 69 - 70 fastback risers will still be too high. 69 -...

Re: LSV - discount for Mustangtech members

I had good experiences with LSV but Shannons upped the value by $5k and were half the price. I'll look at them again once it's time to renew though.

Re: Shaun's 69 Coupe build

Seems a sideways glance is all it takes! Lol. 3 kids under 4 is going to be a handful.
Ausjacko, I must've got lucky I got mine through Jegs on eBay and was here in a week. Their freight was cheaper than Summit and the quoted figure for taxes and import duty was lower too.

Re: Shaun's 69 Coupe build

Keep pumping out those kids. When you get to your 3rd (like I recently aquired), all of a sudden the Mustang becomes Daddy's toy. Welcome to the Forum of awesomeness Shaun I haven't updated this thread for a while as I've hardly touched the coupe in the last 8 months or so. Donoauto must have been ...

Re: late engines

I'll be buying in the next week or two but fitting it might be a while off, maybe a year or so. I'm looking at using the ba fuel pump module in a 69 tank for the fuel system. I'd like to see whether the dollar goes up a bit more. Just the small rise in the last week or two has saved $70-80 on the sy...

Re: late engines

It has been a revolution in this area, with the design and functionality of these electronic carburetors. The price is the same as a good carbi for the base unit so pump, minimal wiring and fuel lines, and exhaust bung welded is all that is needed. I sure see the appeal. It cannot be made any simpl...

Re: late engines

I've heard good things about the FItech system on some US forums. I'll be getting the 400hp version which is only $795US from Summit. Sydney Speed Supplies (Procomp) are the local distributors but they want $2000 plus postage.

Re: Oil Leak in the back of a 351 Cleveland

Hi Greg, just check that it actually is the main seal leaking. I've owned a few clevelands over the years and had the rear seal on the intake manifold leak down the back of the block. Also had the oil pressure sender spring a leak once as well. Its located at the back of the block. If you're lucky i...

Re: Paint process- bare metal then????

Thanks for the advice. The actual shell doesn't seem too bad, there's bog in both quarters where they've filled dents that'll take a bit of beating to sort out. The holes for the vinyl roof mouldings were just taped and bogged too. It looks like a backyard job a teenager would do on his first car.

Re: Paint process- bare metal then????

Thanks Shaun. I'm actually closer to the Hillcrest store. I knock off work at lunchtime Friday's, So it may be a quick drive down to get some paint one Friday arvo. I saw they had epoxy primer and hi build in the genroc paint brand as well. Any opinion on those?
Thanks Shaun

Re: Paint process- bare metal then????

I'll look into those brands mentioned and see if I can get any of them locally. Colourfast at Hillcrest is just up from the road from my sister. I've been to 2 paint shops up here and both mixed brands between paint layers. They seem to want to sell you what they have on the shelf. I got a blank loo...

Re: Paint process- bare metal then????

Thanks for the advice, guys.
Ozbilt- if I use intergard should I stay with Asko-Nobel products for the primer/filler and topcoats? I found on the web Sikkens and Dulux are part of the Asko-Nobel group. Or can I use intergard then use debeer etc for the rest?
