Have put a 24" copper 3 core radiator in and need to go mechanical for now as there is not enough clearance for thermos. Looking at pulley/fan options. What will be best set up mechanical fan and pulley wise??
After market or try to locate factory spec pulleys?

Re: Yep Car runs hot!
Water pump is a cast iron Airtex. So nothing special. I have checked and double checked timing, with 2 different timing lights along with conferencing with engine builder....16 degree initial and it has 32 degrees max at approx 3000rpm on the ICE ignition. When I tarted this project I was none the w...

Re: Yep Car runs hot!
Cruising speeds around the 60-80km and and I have even taken trans cooler away from front of radiator. A neighbor who just finished his Cleveland XY said he had same problem and his fix was to go back to factory over drive wp pulley. Now that I understand what pulley ratios mean I'm with you don't g...

Yep Car runs hot!
Engine gets hot at cruising speeds now car is finished. All good at idle, thermo cycles on and off. Driving under permit at moment and cant get car to get a RWC as she sits at 230F and I have to limp home. I posted a while ago but again here are the facts: Mild 302 Windsor 2500 stall convertor 160 d...

Re: alternator size
I believe alternators have a voltage vs rpm spec at which they can deliver max current. But if anyone knows better please correct me. At idle with ignition, fans, fuel pump etc and lights I'm drawing roughly 40 amps, with a 65amp alternator. That's not including other run of the mill accessories. So...

Re: alternator size
Make sure the clamp meter you order measures high current on the DC settings also. Some will only measure high on the AC settings. Mine will measure up to 400amps dc. Yell out if you need help deciding which is which.

Re: alternator size
I shouted myself a clamp meter for my 50th from Jaycar and found it a great/safe way for working out total current draw.

Re: 67 Mustang cooling
Yep husky I can get a loan of a temp gun. Worth having a play with and set fans after I put the 180 thermostat in.

Re: 67 Mustang cooling
Fans are controlled via a variable thermostat with the probe placed through radiator fins. Probe is in a dielectric paste to make a thermal connection between fins and probe. Decent temp gauge will help set fan at desired temperature.

Re: 67 Mustang cooling
Thanks Boofhead. While ago when I started the car thermos did not kick in as trigger wire to thermo's was disconnected, my bad. Temp rose fairly fast once she had warmed up. Definitely going to put a 180 degree thermostat in for starters ans set fan so it come on after. In terms of using another tem...

Re: 67 Mustang cooling
Ok Hybrid well there is something I hadn't thought of. I have my fan set so it comes in when I feel top hose is warming up, i.e thermostat is opening. At end of the day if the fan is running earlier that's not a bad thing right? And does it really matter if airflow while car is moving doesn't cool t...

Re: 67 Mustang cooling
My understanding Hybrid, is the 67's in certain option packages did come out with the 24inch radiators via saddle mount. Provisions are there for original style radiator to be mounted and available. I agree Husky at moment i am guessing so maybe I need to get an aftermarket temp gauge and measure te...

Re: 67 Mustang cooling
Thanks but If I'm going to upgrade system then would be looking at possibly going to twin fan set up.
