Re: 390 overheating issues

If you go aluminium, don't fall for the 4-row, 5-row BS. With aluminium, what you want is big cores. So at least 1" cores. More often than not, the 4 row and higher (and sometimes even 3 row) are 3/8" cores. Don't use those. You are better off with 2-row 1" cores than a 4 row 3/8"...

Re: 390 overheating issues

You'd think that the thermo fans would have solved the problem if the issue was a lack of airflow when the car is not moving. It still may be the case I guess if the thermos were not moving enough air either. But you've got one of two issues: 1) Not enough water flow at idle 2) Not enough airflow wh...

New model VT800 - replaces VT900

I thought we were going to be without an external antenna model after the VT900 became unavailable, but they have come out with a new model. This one should be compatible with every Australian network, though you'd probably be silly to go with anything other than Telstra anyway. https://www.mustangt...

Re: Cleaning up engine bay

You can do a pretty good job of hiding your front brake lines up higher near the cowl, and the side closest to the booster can go straight through the inner guard near the master. Most of the time, things are hidden in the guards. You can run wiring under the inlet manifold too in some cases. That's...

If they are standard, they should be Kelsey Hayes and look something like this:

Re: So my Yella Terra Roller rockers started making a high rattling /ticking sound

Wow, 5,500 is very low. I revved my hydraulic roller to 6800 at the strip and no sign of valve bounce.
That was a cast crank 347.

Just put the video ID from the end of the URL rather than the whole URL, so just vFaqgixOYOs

Just upload the video to youtube - set it so that only people with the link can view it, then post it here.

Re: So my Yella Terra Roller rockers started making a high rattling /ticking sound

Who set up the rockers?
Before I finished reading your initial post, I was thinking potentially too much clearance on rocker to valve (which should never really happen on hydraulic rollers anyway). I would have never thought that soft springs would cause that.

Did the engine builder spec all that?

Re: 347 dyno results

That's good power for a light car like ours. Sounds like it drives nice too, which is what you want. This was my 347 session (with blower though) when we could only rev to 5500 when the gearbox started slipping. Torque was still climbing there, so hoping for some more out of it next time around with...

Wow, I have never heard that noise before, nor that issue!
Good luck with the builder.

Re: hybrids 1966 Coupe Project

I know unigroup - I used them years ago for my 180sx. Good guys.
Tuning isn't rocket science though, so I'll most likely do it myself.

I need to get past all my teething issues first though and do a bunch of street tuning so I don't waste too much dyno time sorting issues.

Re: hybrids 1966 Coupe Project

Well it's finally alive again. What a long and drawn out story as usual. So it turns out that the stud holes ARE blind and the coolant leak was actually a casting issue with the head. This was the stud near #2 cylinder. On my previous engine, I had a "stud leak" on #7 cylinder, so you can ...
