Door assembly

67/68 Doors

THE ORDER IN WHICH THE DOORS GO TOGETHER.

  • Door lock mechanism (put this in assembled with all rods attached), outer key barrel then inserted & outer door handle bolted on.

  • Remove the window bump rubber that is in the centre of the door on the bottom.

  • Bolt on (loose) the rear window channel. Two 1/4 bolts are at the top (one inside the door opening, the other in the outer part of the frame). Have the lower adjusting bolt thread greased or "anti seize" applied, so it can be adjusted easily. I put that screw the channel before inserting in the door & have it adjusted half way as a starting point.

  • Bolt in window regulator, make sure all teeth are greased beforehand, bolt in small slide that regulator works on. Place long slide (the one the window bolts to) on the regulator runners.

  • Bolt the front aligning plate (not tight) on the glass as it will fit through the top opening with it attached.

  • You can now put the door glass in with the regulator set so the mounting holes for the glass (3 of them) are lined up with the stamped hoiles in the doors. You will need an assistant to hold the glass while you place the screws . Start with the screw that is in the dedicated hole, other two are in clips & will move slightly. Do not tighten until all are in place. You can then wind the window down to the bottom of the door.

  • Now place the rear stop on the rear channel as there will be room with the window down.

  • Next is the quarter window, place this in the door with the adjusting screws removed, about half way in you can get access to insert them, I wind them all the way in for ease of getting the 1/4 glass all the way down, then bolt it in & adjust to suit.

  • The belt line weather strips gpo on next & as the window is further down that normal because of the bump rubber missing, this is fairly easy.

  • Wind window back up, trialing for fit to the roof seal, tighten stops & adjusting nuts on the allen headed adjusting screws, when happy with window position.

  • Replace the bump rubbers.
