BA fuel pump upgrade

The BA fuel pump module is a good choice for many retrofit fuel injection installs because of it's built-in swirl pot.
This how-to shows how to upgrade the internal pump to a Walbro 460LPH pump, but these instructions should also be valid for the more popular 255LPH Walbro pumps.
Remove the pump module from the vehicle.
You should see two plastic clips on the side of the module that will allow the bottom half to slide down.
Use a screwdriver to carefully pry the clips and slide the bottom down. It may be tight to start with.

Once the bottom is off, you will have access to remove the strainer. It is also held on with two clips.

Now you can remove the electrical connection and carefully remove the fuel line from the pump and slide the pump out.

Below are the two pumps side by side. Note the extra shoulder on the new Walbro pump. This will foul on the housing, so some trimming is required.

The following picture shows the trimmed housing. There are three ribs inside the pump housing that need to be trimmed down to allow the pump to sit fully within the enclosure.

Once trimmed enough, the large pump shoulder should sit flush with the housing. In the pic below, some more trimming is required.

Once the pump is flush, you can clip the module back together and re-fit the fuel line to the new pump.

Connect the wiring to the new pump.

Reinstall!
