67 coupe with wilwood master cylinder Reply to topic

I am after a bit of info from anyone who has a non boosted wilwood master cylinder fitted to their 67.

I mounted my mc and have found that the rod to the pedal is too long even at its shortest adjustment. I have an original 67 pedal for manual brakes.

The pedal is sitting too high.

Have others just cut down the little rod with the loop that attaches to the pedal?

If the angles, amount of movement and alignment is fine then I have never had a problem cutting the pushrod and rewelding.

I will someday think of something clever to say.

I had one here last week, it used an adjustable pushrod. If everything is working fine but the pedal is too high, I agree with Boof, mod the pushrod.

Just do not weld it. Illegal. If you have an accident and they find a welded pushrod or pedal. Then insurance is denied.

Sorry guys, only just saw these messages.

The rod ended up having a very short thread area. I cut the thread another 1/2 inch further, then cut about 7/16 off.

This gave me enough adjustment to have the mc bottom out just before the pedal hit the floor, while the pedal returns to a tiny bit above stock pedal height.

The old girl actually seems like she is gonna stop now.

Brake testing in the next day or two, then driving time.
