I bought a new alternator as the Auto Electrician said even though my old one is a pretty chrome one it's only a 45 amp one which is way to small to run my Spal fan and new fuel pump when I decide which one. Also means I can get rid of the regulator when I rework the wiring. I'll also order the Bronco starter as that will get rid of the solenoid to further cleanup the guard.

Did the $$$$$ last night, my rebuild just hit $20k and I still have to do wheels, drive shaft, tidy paint and pay an engineer $2k unless I can find a cheaper one.

which engineer were you using???

Bummer, I searched ebay for windsor v8 starter and couldn't find one so I went in to Supercheap, they wanted $203 and Repco are getting one in for me for $199. Oh well. Bought a 1 wire 100 amp chrome alternator on ebay for $199 from Performance Warehouse who are pretty good and quick, arrived 2 days later. Auto Electrician said mine was externally regulated and was only 45amps which was too small to run my thermo's, electric fuel pump and the rest of the car. New starter and alternator will let me delete the solenoid and voltage regulator and have less wiring to hide under the guards. This is the current birdnest, not as bad as the EFI wiring I had to hide in my EH LS1.

Wiring can be glorious fun.

I will someday think of something clever to say.

Had a great score yesterday, bought 2 metal Shelby Mustang 1:18 models for $20 ea from my Mustang parts supplier who was clearing up old stock. They sell online for $50 US ea plus postage. Impeccable detail, you could just about use them to build a car off.

I'll probably sell this yellow big block Shelby convertible

How fun is wiring! It's kinda therapeutic for the first hour and then I just can't wait till I'm finished.

Wiring is fine until the owner of the car in the cave atm says, when I turn on the wipers, the heater fan comes on, and can you look at the sparks under the dash!!! I had a look and oh crap! Argh

I was using John Wilson but I hear he's retiring soon which is a good thing as he charges $2k where I have just found an engineer in Newcastle (who rego actually like) who will do it for around $1k.

Too late, I had to pay upfront for a special order, came in yesterday. Supercheap are $50 cheaper on ebay than walking into the store ($149 plus $7 delivery on ebay). Oh well, it's only money.

Big Mc, was thinking the same thing. Absolute travesty how these cars were just crushed after prangs like that. Hope no one was hurt. What are the chances of two roll-overs in the one post?

AND, the pace of this thread is petty impressive. Again Ed, if you want a hand with wiring let me know. I have become adept at soldering multi core into single and don't listen to Nuts, single operation switches are for nancy-boys. When I activate the wipes I get stereo, lights and the interior light-bonus!

Yeah he is OK.
I'm sure he charges more for ACT rego cars because of the trouble the rego guys always give.

if you were rego in NSW i could give you another contact, but he won't deal with the ACT Nazis. Neutral
