Hi Ed
I am doing the MIG course now at TAFE; did TIG last year. I picked up a UNIMIG from Gas Weld. They will match any genuine Syd or Melb advertised price on the same model blah blah blah...

How do you go from the 3D printed model to the actual steel piece?

Cheers
Jacko

Bought a Mitec tig/plasma from pinnacle in Melbourne, good bit of kit for like $1100 and he keeps spares, new board is like $100. Mig I bought the $600 one that was said to do tig, then he said keep it and refunded $300. Mite again. My last welder AC/Dc Tig was a Mitec, very good, Had a big old unimig mig welder old school.

[quote="nassi"]Not sure why you would have 5 wires there Ed.
There should be a red-blue wire from the "S" terminal on the ignition switch which runs to the Park/Neutral switch and on to the starter relay.
The other two are the reverse lights from the fuse box through the Park/neutral switch then on to the reverse lights.
It must be an AOD thing as the C4 only has the 4 wires to and from the switch. Someone hasn't run the light for the shift indicator the long way around, have they?[

I'll have a look this Wednesday when I get back into the car again and wiring. Had a C6 so not an aod thing? Shift light, that's funny, I fitted an led down there then found the original one when I pulled the shifter. Don't mind the led. Also put them under the dash.

The Hedman headers don't fit the on the rhs - the engine mount is 30 mm away! ;-{ Custom header to build on that side. Then redo for rhd next year. I bought a kit off fleebay for $350!

New floors is a pretty easy fix next yaer after I remove all the sound deadening. Trufit were good, an extra $20 to put a mat in RHD and LHD.

I'll mount the odyssey under the seat on passenger / rh side. Just need to lash out another $50 for Jaycar jump points ;-{

Check the jacket my girlfriend bought from the USA for me - amazing!
We're going there in 2019 to do the old route 66 in a late model mustang convertible and I'll try and buy the leather one over there she found!

I can highly recommend the Route66 journey. I did all 3 alignments in 1999 travelling in a 65 Lincoln Continental.

Make sure you do all the research first and have plenty of pace notes. We had heaps and missed nothing on the way. Some days we traveled only 60 or so miles but did it on all 3 alignments, some that were barely there then and long gone now. We met some of the legends of the road that are now no longer with us.

If you (or anyone interested) happen to be near the Duggo ranch (when I happen to be in Australia), stop by and I will bore you with the stories and pictures Wink2

Sounds great, my girl friend is a librarian so she is a researcher. I'm pretty sure she will plan it all in detail. I'll chat to you when we get closer.

Regards
Eddy

Sorry guys, got caught up with life!

Cars being built with new motor but had to get Nuts to pull it down a bit to check a problem with loose metal flake on head the size of a 10 cent coin. All ok.

Running out of time so going to get it built and on road and do a RHD conversion next year.

Any tips on track, standard track is 1422 (+ 25) for rego? Are Shelby's wider?

Header is 10 mm tight so plasma cutter to trim the shock tower on the RHS or oxy dent.

The rule is you can use the track of the suspension from the donor vehicle. Have an AU V8 Ute donor so looking at using back brakes from that and wiring etc.

For that clearance issue on the tower, I think Kerry cuts the piece out, flips it and then welds it back in.

On Astro's car I cut the centre piece out of the brace on the tower turned it backwards and put it of the other side of the car, and then just flattened the ears on the towers out a bit, there maybe a some pictures in Astro's build thread

I'll look at Astro's build for pics. Not too worried as I'm going the wholw hog next year to make it a nice RHD with no shock towers, AU front end (if possible) or build my own front end.

Thanks for that.

Any ideas on the battery, i have the external terminals and the odyssey going under the seat?
