So my Hedman shorty headers don't match up to my new exhaust ports at all. The ports are so much bigger they are wider than the mating surface of the headers. I had to goop up the gasket to stop the massive blowby I was getting.
Does anyone know of tuned length headers 1 5/8 or bigger that will clear R&P steering as well as an AOD? The exhaust ports are raised so I might get away with 351w ones.
FYI The existing headers are Hedman 88400 1 1/2 primaries.
I've been looking at this as well as a I have the RHD TCP R&P setup. Ozbilt, I'm sure he'll correct me if i'm wrong, recommends the JBA shorty's for RHD TCP applications which I think is the 1 3/4" primary/ 3" collector.
I saw a set of Hedman mid length 88656 on ebay at the moment in WA, he says he's selling as they did not suit his RHD setup might be an idea to contact him and see what set up he has and what they hit. www.ebay.com.au/itm/li...RTM2010733
I have a set of Hedman elite full length headers that I am test fitting on mine in a couple of weeks, let you know how that goes which are 1 5/8" primary 3" collector which might be a bit big for my 289 and they apparently hang low. Failing that I was looking at the Hedman 88408's which is similar to what you have with the smaller primary of 1 1/2" and would likely suit my lil 289 better though I'll check my exhaust porting as my ports have been opened up a bit so thanks for the tip.

I am Borg. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
I seem to remember that I paid about $650 USD for a set of JBA shorty headers (ceramic coated) a couple of years ago for the 351W into 65 coupe.
As SP has mentioned previously they aren't an easy fit which required specific engine mounts a plenty of BFH to get them in.
By the looks of it, any off the shelf system will be the same, you can take a chance with the ones Summit are selling or get a set custom made and do it right first time.
I spent half my money on mustangs, mustangs and more mustangs. The other half I wasted on mustangs - and an Effie.
