The TFI module is what normally breaks on these integrated dist.
It gets to hot.

I do not use the module when Megasquirting them.

I will someday think of something clever to say.

I would be checking the plugs and leads. A failed spark can cause all kinds of noise issues.

Yeah I know. Mine is relocated to a heat sink on the front of the shock tower. It is also a new motor craft unit. Not saying it's not that thoigh

So did a bit today. Ended up replacing the pickup in the distributor. I used the 'home' method of putting on open ended spanner on the top of the dizzy gear, then a two jaw gear puller onto that. Worked a treat, pulled it right off.

While I was at it, I tested all the leads, they were all fine. I also replaced all the spark plus for shits and giggles. Some of them had a bit of oily fuel on them. I also replaced the non wideband o2 with a spare bosch one I had.

Took it out for a drive around the block once warmed up, apart from a bit of funky afr's at the start(I did reset the ecu), it didn't seem to do any popping or missing. Will take it for a better drive tomorrow night.

Also, with the Unisteer. The turning circle has definitely increased. The feel is very good though, and very direct. Happy so far

I am still deciding whether to go tfs 11r 190 heads/cam/1 3/4" lt's and aim for a streetable 350rwhp, or a forced induction setup with the gt40p heads(as I can't afford both) and aim for 400rwhp'ish. Even though I am still deciding, a Novi 2000 to suit my serpentine setup popped up in the states. So in good old impulse buying style, it is on it's way to me as we speak.

Why do I do this to myself Head Bash

Don't welcome me just yet, I do change my mind as often as my wife yells at me. Not sure on the model, will check it out when it gets here. I know it was sitting on the guys shelf for 5 years. If I use it I'll just replace the seals to be safe and throw it on

If I put the SC on, I'll keep the gt40p's for the short term. I'll just replace the headgasket, add studs and keep the timing low. Will also add meth/water. From what I've read, 8-10psi seems to be fine with a good tune and conservative timing. The thin decks just seem to lift past that. The fast burn chambers of the gt40p's also seem to not like high timing. So as long as I tune it well, it SHOULD be fine on low boost.

Another success. I was going over everything before I took it out for a test drive, and was checking the vacuum lines to the FPR. In my Hogan's intake there is a grub screw underneath the top, near the runners. I assumed it was for nos/meth and had been plugged up when I bought it. Anyway, my hand accidently brushed over the grb screw, and I heard a sucking sound. You could only hear it when your finger was on it. Oh well, I thought it must be leaking through the threads, so I pulled it out to seal threads up. The grub screw was hollow! I had a massive air leak through that thing for the last few months. The PO must have been using it as an idle adder. No wonder my idle/afr's were a bit funky. Replaced it with a bolt and bit of sealant.

I had to open up my throttle body a fair bit as it wouldn't idle once I plugged the leak up. The KAM afr's were now high 11's at idle. The computer had adjusted the closed loop afr's that much for the leak. So I adjusted the tps, reset the ecu and took it out for a drive. Everything's much better now, afr's are rock solid and the idle is so much better.
