I am excited to see how the gear vendors works out for you.

I am still tempted to try and get the C4 leaking problem fixed - I think it could be the torque converter is draining - I read up on it some and either you have the tranny taken apart and fix a valve or add a valve to the cooling lines going to the radiator.

Having 6 gears on an auto sounds great.

Ryan, if the torque converter drains back the "leak" may be from the overflow at the top of the trans.

Jaguar had this same issue with series 2 XJS cars they fixed it buy extending the breather up in the the engine bay. The fluid just runs up the tube rather than on the ground, Ive seen it done on C4's

The guy I had rebuild it last put a deeper oil pan sump with a drain plug on it so it could hold more fluid. He also did a shift kit modification to it (shifts great) and did something to the torque converter (don't remember exactly what). He specializes in C4 - C6 60's mustang transmissions and had it on a test engine to make sure it shifted properly. It didn't start leaking for the first 3-4 months.

Anyway, I will look into extending the tube. I don't mean to hijack your thread here.😇

No problem rk, hijacking threads is an regular requirement to keeping your membership at mustangtech.

Will try to do a write up on the install of the GV when we get around to it. Just waiting to get the motor back.

Awesome, I will be taking notes on the gear vendors install!

Nassi - it does leak some from the overflow. One time it sat for almost a year at my dad's while I was moving back to Kansas back in 2014 and when I started it up and put it in gear it went no where. I let it idle for about 5 minutes and then put it back in gear and it ran just fine - that is why I am thinking the torque converter drains, causing the tranny to leak out the over flow.

It leaks a little in other places too, but mostly the overflow. I am going to run this down more over the winter and try to pinpoint all the leaks and how much.
I don't want to just jump to switching out transmissions, especially since it shifts really well now.

Easy way to tell for sure is just drive it everyday for a week and I bet you will not find any on the floor.
